Looking for advice in buying used 2014 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T

Hi everyone!

I would like to purchase a 2014 Santa Fe Sport, just looked at the car and have a couple of questions.

Link to a car
Link to Carfax report

From the report it seems that the car wasn't maintained for quite a while, Nissan dealer told that not everything is carfaxable and they would try to find some more info (service dept was closed at the time of our inspection, so they promised to provide records later).

Overall the car looks good, some findings:
+ original paint, measured with a tool showing paint thickness
+ breaks/rotors are good
+ no error codes
+ engine oil looks fresh, engine air filter is clean, look like it has been changed recently
+ no sign of frame damage (screws, frame looks original)
+ interior is in pretty good condition (apart from some dirt in panel seams, see pic)

- front glass not original
- low coolant level
- dipstick has yellow deposits
- engine oil cap looks ok
- missing screw holding battery
- missing trim on driver doors

Questions:
* do you think it's crucial for the engine/turbo to miss scheduled maintenance, or Hyundai would replace engine anyways in case anything happens? (turbo?)
* is it normal for passenger widow markers to be mirrored inside the car? (see photo)
* exterior plastic covers has some white buildup, do you think it's recoverable?
* we saw some paint marks of different color on various parts under the hood, is this normal? (e.g. see low coolant pic, black, red marks, and white arrow at the left bottom; battery pic, red mark on the ground cable)

Thank you for any information!

Looks like its missing the engine shroud too. The rubber pieces on the door were probably sucked out when they vacuumed the interior. I suck mine out all the time. Too bad you weren't local to me I would sell you mine. I got less miles too.

I dont see any big problem, except for the maintenance. I dont have yellow marks on my oil dip stick even after 145000km, so I think the oil in this car wasnt changed often...? I replace mine with synthetic every 6000km.

Engine coolant that low is either they just flushed it and need to be adjusted again after all air is gone, or it was never checked because of low maintenance? Or worse case engine is burning some.

Missing trim in the doors : Its only a little "cover" that you can remove easily to clean it, was probably lost
I dont think a not original windshield is a problem
Paint mark everywhere is from factory/dealer inspection when new
Dirt in cracks... well its a used car, buy new if you dont want dirt lol
Plastic black cover whiteness, maybe cheap wax was used on it, there is products to remove it but it will take elbow grease for sure. Or others product like "back-to-black"
Missing screw on battery, we can clearly see the battery was replaced, the mechanic was just too lazy to put back the bolt or lost it.. Find a bolt that fit there and your good.

As with any intention of Used Car purchase, you want to take the car to a technician / shop of your choice who is working for you to have a complete used car inspection done... Remove oil cap and look in for sludge / gel / mud to indicate lack of maintain as far as oil change.. yellow/orange stain is an indicator..

Message sent with Hyundai service info to VIN.. Engine warranty carry on to 120 I think it is with whoever own car at the time

<--- Please fill in the 'location' and 'what you drive(year & chassis) and engine size' boxes on your personal profile page.

Thank you for responses!

Engine shroud was taken off by me.
Yeah, lack of maintenance is a concern (I don't see an extended warranty for Santa Fe Theta II engines, the one YF Sonatas have)

<< Too bad you weren't local to me I would sell you mine. I got less miles too.
Agreed.

Here is also a "cold start" video:

Unfortunately I don't have a trusted technician in the area, will probably take it to Hyundai dealer for a "pre-purchase" inspection, would like to do a compression/leak-down test too.

Oil cap is more or less clean (yelowish), no sludge/gel/mud.

After seeing the cold start video, the oil dipstick is orange, meaning the recall have been done on it. Maybe for this oil dipstick its normal to have the yellow stain/mark? Hard to tell from the picture.

What recall? I have had all recalls (according to the dealer) done to my car and I don't have a orange dip stick.
