2.4L occasional sloppy start

I'd like to ask if any other owners of 2019 SF 2.4L have experienced this. I bought the car new August 16.

On day two ownership, 250 miles on it because I went far to buy it, I was eager to try the Bluelink remote start. The engine loped and stumbled for 20 seconds or so. Then it quit and automatically tried again, the second time starting correctly.

It happened again today, at 5,100 miles, seated in the car and using the start button. First start of the day, like before. It struggled to start, as if too lean, and the starter motor remained engaged. After 10 seconds I blipped the gas pedal a little and it "caught" and ran correctly.

Any thoughts? I don't think fuel quality is the issue, I only buy branded fuel with the Top Tier endorsement.

See if you can record it when it's acting up and take it to the dealer. If they can't duplicate the problem they may use your video to guide them.

Well, what do you know. This happened to me on my second day with the vehicle, with less that 100 miles on it. I assumed it was a software issue, so I turned it off and back on again (IT joke) and it was fine the second time. It hasn't happened since.

I have had two instances where my 2.4 cranked for a few seconds before starting. Both were within a day of each other so I assumed some water in my gas as it had been very rainy around that time. Had mine since 11/10/18.

I don’t know if this is what you’re referring to. I have had a couple of times when the car seems like it struggles to start and it starts kind of rough when usually it starts up really quick. Kind of hard to explain exactly what it does, but it is definitely noticeable. Once it actually starts it runs fine it’s just the act of starting at that seems rough on a few occasions

Well if a reboot won't fix it there's always the one at the end of your foot. (not an IT joke)

Every now and then it works.

I just noticed yesterday -

I was sitting at a rest stop in park with the car running. I had the heat slightly on and I noticed the windows were fogging up a bit so I pushed the front defrost button and it felt like the engine almost shut off and the entire car vibrated really intensely for a few seconds and the rpms went down to about 300 rpm but then went back up and normalized. I can recreate it over and over, it does it every time. Even if I’m driving and I’m not giving the car any gas it does it also. One time I did it the car actually started to stall but I gave it some gas and it stopped. I don’t understand why it would be doing this? The AC is not on, the auto shut off feature is off, brake hold is off. It’s so weird switching from recirculating heat to front defrost would cause this. I’m visiting in-laws in the boonies and Am 3 hours from a Hyundai dealer so I can’t do anything about it until we get back home in a couple weeks.

Does anyone have any clue what would be causing this? Does anyone else have this same issue? It’s easy to recreate.

I have a recall on mine. From what I hear, it is a reprogramming recall that affects
starting and ISG. I have had the sloppy start about 3 times already with 2300 miles on it.

I've had a couple of sloppy starts, i've noticed it seems to have gone away as the mileage goes up.

When you push the defrost button it starts the A/C compressor. This is wat is causing the vibration and rpm to go down. You may have an issue with the A/C compressor. Need to get it checked out.
