Hello just bought a sonata. i just noticed i dont have the eco button on my dash but if i go through my trip i have the feature to turn off and on eco.. My question is. Is this different eco than the phy button on the dash? I have been trying to find an answer online but having no luck. thanks
The 2011 model did not have the ECO as a button, it could only be turned on or off via the menu settings. In essence, it effectively does the same thing, however some people do believe the button activation of the ECO settings might have been a little more effective, but I'm guessing it's because they were able to tune the setting a little better, too.
If I'm not mistaken what you have is just an Eco light. It will light up when you drive slow at low RPM. That's all it does and you have this option to turn the bulb on or off but it doesn't change anything about how the car drives.
The other option is - active eco. It's a separate button and if you turn it on - the throttle becomes less responsive and shifting points change to the worse.
And that way it supposedly saves gas.
i have an early build 2011 GLS (date: March 2010). The ECO indicator (no button) is ADVISORY only; it does not affect anything. i have left it OFF for 6.5 years
makes since i just run with it off. I find the light on the dash annoying anyway.
