My 2011 Sonata is coming up on 60k and with that the expiration of the warranty. I have already replaced the starter plastic lever, and also did a tsb for the steering wheel.
I was wondering if you guys have any other suggestions of what to look for. the last time I went to the dealer he said he couldnt tell me what to look for as he got in trouble, but I assume there are still some outstanding TSB's that I should look into before 60k
My 2013 just went past 60,000 late last week. For a month I kept looking for something I needed to get taken care of before the warranty expired, and - nothing!
Just got all my 60,000 mile inspections done Saturday. Was surprised that the brake pads are still looking quite good. I expected to hear they were at or close to needing replaced. I still need to replace the air and cabin filters, but I'm going to wait until next weekend, when it's supposed to be above 20 degrees.
I've got 1/3 the miles on mine that I hope to end with. So far, so good. This is the first car I've been meticulous about servicing, and I think it's making a difference. I'm glad I committed to changing the way I treat my cars.
Really though--- be sure to get you car into a dealer before you hit 60K. Have them address stuff in this order
1 TSBs---these are applied on per-vehicle basis and many times the service adviser will not pull them unless asked. While many are minor, there are some (the steering coupler TSB comes to mind) that requires dealer labor (tools, computer time, etc). Let Hyundai cover this!
2 Non-Powertrain--from my own experience, you should check you fuel sending unit, fuel pump, and suspension components for any failing items. On the interior, look for fabric issues, trim issues, and electrical issues (except the audio system...that was out at 36K) to see if anything may be warrantied.
3 Fluids--you are due for a coolant change, brake fluid change, and ATX fluid change. While not specifically warranty, the ATX and coolant are important to maintain your powertrain coverage.
