Gas Prices

Not very long ago, when price per gallon broke into the $2.80's,it seemed cheap and we were all very happy. Gas in this area is now sub $2.00 per gallon with top tier gas in the $2.05 range.

With oil currently at $46.00 per barrel and talk of mid $38.xx's forecast, where will the price for a gallon of gas settle? Not sure as the oil companies are sure to play games, but,if gas stays around $2.00 long term,I for one will be very pleased.

In your part of the world and/or country, what are you guys/girls paying?

Whats the weather like over there now?

Im currently paying about 2.46 a gallon but for some reason my sonata and my girlfriends sonata are both getting about 17 mpg.
Wow,why the bad mileage, what kind of mileage do you get in the summer?

I put premium $2.33/gal by my job in New Jersey :)

Regular is $1.93
Very close to the prices where I am.

We normally get 24 to 26 MPG
****,the winter and winter blend kills your mileage.:surprise:

FYI
I average 31 to 32 MPG at home 18 miles to work and back, using the mid-grade because there are no Tier-1 stations nearby. The open road was 37+ on one trip (mixed city, open road driving). I have not had a chance to do a full tank on the open road, yet. The lowest MPG on my Sonata LTD, still beats the best MPG I ever got on the 2.5L Camry I had.

Yeah, thats a big drop for sure. Are you getting a lot more snow where you are driving on snow packed roads much more than last season?

The last tankful,I filled up with Shell for the first time ever.I want to see what kind of mileage I get compared to the gas I have been using. Really curious as this weekend we are driving to Virginia along a lot of route 81.

I just paid $1.71 last week and on my '15 Sonata Sport 2.4 with just over 900 miles on it I got on my 14 gal fill-up 28 mpg. I drive like an old man because I am one (70) and I drive for mileage. There is too much to like about this car but I'm hoping the mpg will get better after a few more miles are on it.

Last week I paid $2.239 at Costco (top tier), but the Chevron a few blocks away wanted $2.659 the same day. We pay a lot of tax per gallon in CA, so the root cost of the fuel is pretty low.
My 2.0T averages about 27-28 this time of year at about 80% highway.
Thats a pretty good price as Cali. generally have the highest prices in the country.Weren't you one of the first states to hit $5 per gallon way back when?

I see you started a thread about this. Good. Good.

What my gripe is, the last time oil fell below $80 a barrel the price of gas was $1.69 a gallon or less. WTF? It's still ~$2.30 a gallon here. I take into account the "winter" fuel and the cost of putting food in our fuel, but still, what's the deal?
Wife and I were just talking about that the other day while driving viewing gas prices at various stations. You would think curent prices would be much lower.:frown:

$2.40 regular here in Queens NY. With the forecasting of an oil glut for the remainder of this year and into next, with the UAE and other OPEC members in agreements to not cut production, I wouldnt be surprised if a barrel of crude bottems out in the mid to upper 30s. I, as a consumer, would love that!

loving the gas prices. here in my area it is $1.69 for 100% real gas. You can find ethanol or that E-10 crap for around $1.49 but who wants that garbage. Bad thing though is that being an energy state we are already starting to feel the effects of the cheap prices. Lots of people i know in the oil industry are facing layoffs or being let go all together because these comanies are hemmoraging money faster than they can make it. If we would use our own oil instead of importing it all in than it wouldn't be as bad but we don't. Guess we shall see what the long term brings. As much as i hate to say it, if oil would go back up to around $100 a barrel and gas prices stayed around $2.50 then we might not have another market crash like what happened here in the 80's after that last oil boom.

Someone said it's to punish Putin, now that Russia has started fracking and become an exporter rather than an importer. Expect prices to rubber band exorbitantly after he's learned his lesson...

A crap ton and I mean a ton of people just got laid off this week. Many from Chesapeake, and Apache to name a few. Schlumberger just announced this afternoon that they will be cutting 9000 jobs. The drilling rig count in the US has dropped by 90 in the last 2 weeks. Not looking good for anyone in the energy sector.

Gas prices are great now everyone but the economic reprocussions aren't going to be so fun. As they say, **** rolls down hill....
