Need help finding tires

Hi All...very new to this forum so TIA for any help.

I purchased a 2012 GLS about a month ago. It came with 16" wheels. Since then I've purchased OEM 18" wheels from a fellow member of the board that came off of his 2012 SE. He had 225x45x18.....I've been calling around looking for tires and most places dont have any in stock and the last place that I called (Just Tires) the guy was acting like I was crazy asking for that tire size. He asked me "How did you come up with that tire size?"...I said uhhhhhhhh b/c thats what Hyundai puts on there sonata's with 18's.

So can anyone recommend a tire brand that is reliable and affordable...would love to be out the door for around 650 at most OR am I just chasing a unicorn?

$650 should be no issue. The Michelin Primacy MXM4 is a great choice for your size.

buy them off tire rack, or go to an actual aftermarket wheel/tire shop, not just a regular tire shop... usually those shops don't know much.

Thanks...so sears wants 727 out the door for goodyear eagle GT. The guy at sears said I would need a tire pressure kit put on (which was not included in the 727 price)...Can they not use the ones on my existing 16"? Maybe thats a crazy question but Im trying to do this on a budget and it doesnt seem to be working.

TIA.....sorry for the silly questions but Im trying to learn here in this forum before I just tell some salesman OK...

Hi. I just went through the tire buying process. I have a GLS with the 18 inch wheels as well. I can tell you that most retailers will not have them in stock and it'll have to be special ordered so you'll be waiting a few days for shipping.

The big problem with the tire size is that the load index rating of 95. Tirerack will list a bunch of tires with a load index of 91 (including the michelin primacy MXM4). While tire rack and a bunch of the forum members will say it's safe to use and within specs, many retailers won't install them because it's a legal liability. This will cut down your tire choices considerably.

With your budget, I'd check out the Dunlop SP Sport Signature on Tirerack. It'll probably be about $675 installed.

What the heck is a tire pressure kit? Did he explain? Seems like an unnecessary markup type item.
