Scosche Dash Kit for Sonata

In lieu of the other thread where the wrong company is getting attention, I've made this thread.

Quote:
Welcome to Scosche Live Help. Please wait for an operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Kelson'
Kelson: How may I help you today?
Matt: When is the 2011 Hyundai Sonata GLS dash kit now due out?
Kelson: Let me check, one moment
Kelson: We will have it available for purchase and ready to ship by Friday
Kelson: 10/12
Matt: Amazon.com: SCOSCHE Automotive Dash Kit - 2011 Hyundai Sonata: Electronics
Matt: Why has this kit been available then for a while? Is it yours?
Kelson: One moment
Kelson: We just received the kit not that long ago, but have shipped to a few dealers. We are currently working on getting it on the site
Matt: So you are confirming that that kit is the correct one?
Kelson: Yes that is the correct kit
Matt: I ask because when I zoom in on the picture, it does not look like the "wings" of the dash kit have the brushed aluminum texturing but instead are matte. The stock comes with brushed aluminum texturing so if the dash kit does not have it then it will not match the car.
Kelson: Let check if I can confirm the color finish
Kelson: It is a matte finish
Matt: OK, thank you.
Kelson: You're welcome
So it is apparently the correct dash kit, and we will not have the matching finish. Anyone bought one yet?

When I bought my 2011 GLS, the standard interior around the dash was black, but if you purchased the PEP it gave you brushed aluminum around the dash, chrome interior handles, alloys etc...so perhaps the interior they're showing isn't for the GLS with PEP. Just a wild guess...

I did ordered one yesterday at ebay, now i have to wait some days to arrive in my country.

Everything in my opinion looks better than the one from the competition, the only thing I don't like is the matte color

The Pros:

- The radio placement is more centralized
- The distance between the radio and the air controls
- No spaces between parts
- The whole structure and construction looks firmly done
- The design is nor deformed like the competition

The Cons:

- The matte color

My car interior is piano black, I think even the brushed one could looks nicer since the vents a far away one from other, but I'm skeptical about the matte color, I'm planing to maybe send to a paint shop?

So if somebody got that kit already please let me know.

I found this is weird, and very complex! Looks like a nice weekend project, but probably work with GPS Screens only, $98.99 on ebay.

Heres some things that I do know about this kit. Alot of companies are advertising this to fit the 2011 and 2012 but it only fits 2011. There was some sort of change in 2012 in the lower cubby hole that makes the bolt dimension line up different. This kit does not come with the aux line extender so unless you are prepared to cut and splice you will lose that function. Its going to be extremely difficult to find a a gps or tablet to fit the 7 inch cut out. From what I have seen is you lose a little bit of the screen because of the trim on this kit.

Thanks for clarify!

I saw in some post that you have the Metra kit installed, how are you going with this, I mean still in nice shape or you did changed it for something else?

I got the Metra kit also, but is not installed yet, there is so many bad experience here that I'm afraid to give a shot, so if you are happy with this please let me know, because I can't see my brand new Pioneer AVH-P8400BH sitting here, should be great to do the installation right the way.

I got also the Metra Axxess ASWC and the Metra 70-7304.

Please let me know how happy are you with your setup

I've considered getting mine painted as well. We shall see how it looks installed. The other option is to make a frankendash with the wings from the stock dash.

The Metra kit is trash. Even if it fits for you, you shouldn't support the company.

I have a manual transmission car, so I don't have the PEP. I don't think the standard interior is black for non-PEP.

Frankendash is a great idea!!

What about use a DI-NOC Carbon Fiber Vinyl on the matte wings?

Anyway mine is arriving next week and probably I will return the metra kit to amazon to support your cause.

I did have to do some slight shaving of the trim to make everything line up correctly. All in all it was a good kit, but not great. It did not fade over the year that it was installed. All the harnesses worked great that I ordered as well.

I ordered the Scosche kit off Amazon. I will let you guys know when it arrives. I'll look into the frankendash as well.

After you mention the Frankendash idea I start to thought, I have the Metra packed and the Scosche will arrives next week. So after research a lot of pictures from both kits, I'm pretty sure that you can combine both

So I will try to use Metra Wings on the Scosche Kit, the Metra wings looks good as you and Fast stated before, the problem is the fitment.

No way I will use the original wings for the Frankendash, are you planing to use the original wings?

I'm planning to do all this thing in one week so if you get before than me, I really appreciate if you take pictures or help me out with some tips, I will do the same when I get mine.

Maybe we can call this MetraScosche?
