Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Indication Light Issue
I have an issue with my Electronic Stability Control (ESC).
The ESC indication light is turning on SOLID (not flashing) which according to the owners manual indicates an issue with the system itself, whereas flashing indicates the ESC was activiated due to a driving condition (slippery conditions, losing grip etc.).
Details of what is happening:
-This solid ESC indication seems to turn on while coming to a complete stop at low speeds, most occasions were after pulling into a driveway.
-The indication light is accompanied by a faint and intermittent buzzing sound, which resembles a electric motor or servo.
-The indication light does not turn off unless I turn off the engine and ignition.
-With the ESC light on solid, pressing the ESC off button on the dashboard does not change anything, nor does the "ESC OFF" indication light come on. (This may be normal response since you shouldn't be able to overide ESC when it is active and in operation).
-Once shutting the engine down and clearing the fault, I am able to turn off the ESC with the dashboard button.
-With ESC OFF (ESC OFF indication illuminated), the fault still occurred on 1 occasion so far.
-The issue is sporatic, it has only occured about 5 times in the last week, usually in the mornings on a cold engine or short trip.
The buzzing sound in particular concerns me as it sounds like something is working or engaged when it shouldn't be. For the most part I have not driven with the solid ESC indication on (I shut the car down and reset it before driving further), this morning the light came on as I approached some traffic and I had to drive about 5 mins before I had the opportunity to safely pull over and reset it.
Has anybody experienced this? I plan on bringing it in to the dealership this week hopefully, we will see if they come up with anything.
The vehicle is a 2011 GL Auto (Canadian model). It has about 15,000km (9000 miles) on it.
