Just unscrew the "U" clamp, use a Dremel to make an oval hole. That way, you will be able to move the "U" inward and make you door close fermly. Remove material little by little with the Dremel and try to fit the screw frequently to achieve perfect fit together. When done, put blue Loctite on the screws and adjust carefully before tighting. Voilà!
So easy.

Pictures on their way....

The bad sound many of us complained when closing the driver's door...
Now mine just give the same solid feeling as the three others.

doing that modification to the striker plate accomplishes nothing, if anything your able to slightly adjust the striker position a bit more and that's it.

..
The striker plate bolts into the B post and that plate has the required adjustment movement, up/down, in/out, to properly adjust the door.

Yep all you've done is weaken the striker plate and make it more likely to loosen up in the future. You've also given the dealer a reason to refuse any warranty work to align the door.
