I have a '11 Sonata SE, obviously with the dual exhaust. Has anybody else noticed that their left exhaust pipe continues to smoke for 1 - 2 minutes after the car is shut off? It is obviously only noticable when it is cold out. I've been bewildered by this since I noticed it. Anybody have any idea why this happens? Maybe it is normal for any car, and I am just noticing it...

Garage
Probably has a lot to do with the warm surface of the pipe and any residual moisture inside reacting to the cooler ambient temperatures. I have seen numerous cars do this and would believe it to be normal.

Thanks for your reply. That is interesting. Any idea why it is only out of the left exhaust pipe?

Left side, while looking at the car from the back?

Just guessing, have not seen the layout of the duals. Perhaps it is the longest path from the engine compared to the other side? Not all the exhaust moisture has evacuated (maybe cooler in temp so the moisture condenses more there)?

Anyone with duals, do both outlets have same amount of pressure/volume when you put you hand near the exhaust while the engine runs? Can you feel a difference?
