No it is not normal. It sounds like you need a replacement brake light switch.

i think something is wrong.
it's like as if the brakes are pressed when it's not.
i pushed down the pedal couple times, and made sure i pulled it back out with my hands.
then got out of the car to check the lights, and it was off.
idk...

Like Joeeey said, it's probably a bad brake light switch. This is a fairly common part to fail on many cars, not just Sonatas. It's a very simple repair to make and I'm sure your dealer will take care of it promptly.
