Probably that. When I changed the oil, noticed by the deformed crush washer that the surface where the washer touches is not perfectly flat. Tightened the bolt by hand like I've done it for decades without a drop leaked, but noticed a small puddle under the car. Long story short, only spec torque got rid of the leak. Factory torque specs are ridiculously high for a flimsy aluminum pan IMO, but had to do it. As a comment, Hyundai's washer seemed like steel. Next time will install a Honda one, which are softer, and deform easier. Hopefully I don't have to torque it that high. Don't want to strip that darn pan after a few times.
