We just got our iPhones the other day and just set them up to connect to the car via Bluetooth. While the call features work great, all of the other sounds from the phone are completed muted when connected. No text message or any other push notification sounds can be heard at all from both the phone and the car's sound system. Has anybody figured out a way to make them audible again?

Make sure when you pair the iphone, that you see (in my case) "Tuscon" on the bluetooth screen.
If you just see "headset" then repair it.

I'm having the same problem, in particular an audible notification for text messages. And yes, I know I shouldn't be texting and driving. Maybe that feature was disabled for that very reason? My iphone is paired with Sonata, not headset, as previously suggested. Any other tips?

Yes, this SUCKS. It is certainly a big downfall whereas I don't even get sound notifications on my iphone of anything - email, text, etc even while parked. I'd like to see a solution to this as well.

I think it's very selective on what it transmits over bluetooth. With my Android phone it will pass over music and youtube sound, but not the sounds made by Google Navigation, which is annoying. It also doesn't play the notification sound when a new email comes in.

I think the point is to give you the sound that doesn't distract you and leave everything else out.

I have an iphone too and its seems like the only way to hear the alerts is if you put the mode in media and play music (itunes) through the bluetooth connection

Thats odd that no other sounds come through. All the sounds come through the speakers for mine. Calls, texts, emails and alerts.

I'm having the same issue -- I got the notification sounds via bluetooth with my iPhone 3gs running the old ios. I recently upgraded to the 4s and I get none of the sounds. (not sure if the problem is with the 4s or with the new ios).

I have had the same issue with the iPhone 4. The weird thing is - is there have been some occasions when it has worked ? I heard text message tone over the speakers in the car. I couldn't tell you why it would sometimes other then maybe I would start the car to let it warm up with my phone in my pocket, get out and go back in the house and then come back to the car. Maybe the phone would pair, then lose signal and then re-pair when I got back in ? Wish I knew ??
