My Cd player recently started showing the Er6 code on every Cd. The readout first shows Cd 1 for a few seconds then kicks it out and shows the code.
Car is 2003 Sonata V6. Does anyone know how to solve the problem. I read somewhere that the cd detector head might be dirty. How to clean??

Update.
I removed the trim and the CD player/cassette/AM-FM from the dash. I then unplugged the multiconductor plug and the antenna. I inspected the unit and everything looked good. When I plugged the unit back in, I heard the Cd player and/or the cassette player cycle the mechanism. I assumed this is the reset that is discussed in papers. After re-installation, everything works good.

I had downloaded some technical papers that indicated that you should remove the power from the unit and the memory power. I had previously removed the fuse from the fuse panel for the unit, but this did not solve the problem although the display would not work. There must be an alternate power feed for the memory?? Anyhow, it would be nice to know so as not to have the remove the unit again (maybe someday) if there is some way to remove total power without unplugging.

I'm having an ER6 issue now too. Did you ever figure out how to resolve it as my CD player does this error on all CDs (real ones and recorded ones)

I had the same problem, but fortunately was still under warranty. Dealer had to replace it.

i see you fixed your problem. cool.

i occasionally have a similar issue but it stems from homemade CD's. I will get the ERROR code when it try to play from an allready inserted CD. The remedy for me has been to eject the disc and put it back it. Play fine after that.

Good to know how to fix the error you had, glad you posted your fix aswell.
