Question Multiple Warning lights

My Wife's Accent '00 suddenly has multiple warning lights coming up on the dashboard.

First the ABS & Handbrake lights came on, then about 5 min later the Engine & Airbag lights switched on. Once the car has warmed up, the ABS & Handbrake switch off when I come to a stop, but come on again when I accelerate. There is also a belt that is slipping when cold.

Could the above have anything to do with the slipping belt or electrical fault. It just seems strange to have so much fail at the same time. Any suggestions or ideas on what is happening would be greatly appreciated??

Alternator belt needs tensioning and/or replaced.

Change all of them, if you change one. They're not expensive.

Parfois, on fait pas semblant!

Hi Wilfire80. If your charging system or battery is not working correctly that could cause the Electronic Control to not work.

Like Airhawk said check the belts. Check your battery and charging system.

And then test the charging voltage AND the battery.
If the battery is more than 5 years old, it might need replacing too.

P.S. If the alternator is not charging AND the battery is getting weak, it may stop altogether at some point (soon).

Just realised how badly I asked the above question. Rain always effects braking😜
Will the lack of charging/slipping belts have an effect on the braking system??

The fluid level sensor and the ABS are part of the electrical system. If you have electrical issues, the indicators could light when there is no issue, and the ABS may not function, but I don't believe the basic function of the brakes would be affected.

If your accent is a 2000, you might have more input from others in the LC board.
