on the 2010-11, the eco button/light is only an indicator that your are driving at ideal engine/transmission running condition. It has no effect on engine performance, fuel economy etc, whatsoever. Just a decorative light.

You have "Active-Eco".....which is much different than the idiot light on pre-2012 models.
Your owners manual should explain it's operation.

Im confused by responses on here. I was under the impression that my 2011 tucsons "eco" button would reduce rpms and do early shift points to maximize fuel economy?

When it is disbabled there is defintely a increase in throttle response and gears will not have a mind of their own and do whatever they want lol.

Did the Canada models have Active Eco a year earlier?
I know mine is nothing more than an idiot light on the dash.

ya im almost 100% that it does. im trying to find some type of press release or anything to confirm this. I do notice an improvement in fuel economy with it turned on... slight improvement mind you.

I would think otherwise.
I already got crappy mileage with that eco on almost all the time & I drive like with an egg under the pedal.
Hope more member wil add their comment.

That eco light, (in our '10), is similar to the old 'vacuum' gauges of the '70s and '80s, or the phony 'mpg' gauge found in some cars.

Yes, getting into/keeping that light on will help, but it takes some granny driving to keep it in the sweet spot.

I agree with newtech: most users will find the real mpg to be well under what the exaggerated and self annointed by Hyundai 'EPA rating' is.

That eco light goes out and will not come back on, at sustained gentle cruise speeds > ~76 mph or so, by the bye...

No. Even the manual describes it as a light.
