Yea our 2012 Elantra Limited is good for some $$
But, our 2011 Tucson GLS is not.

I honestly can't complain on mileage for either.....but I'll take some cash if they are offering. ;)

The WSJ's condensed version...as the longer version is for subscription readers only:

Can hardly wait for my ~$50 rebate on our '10 Tuck,

Not a surprise: the CEO's 10 Tuck, Front wheel drive, has never seen 30, let alone that mystical "31" mpg, in 2+ yrs and 25,000 miles.

H&K tested a few under the EPA regs, probably rigged or super tuned, eg 45 psi in tires, etc, slapped on those lofty numbers, and hoped they would get away with it.

GL, mD

Kind of a non starter for me. Purchased the 2012 Tucson Limited with Nav less than two months ago and didn't buy it for it's MPG ratings. We got it because it had more features for less of a price, looked better, and a better warranty than the Escape, or RAV4. The Escape MPG ratings are 21/28, the Rav4 22/28. Revised Tucson is now 21/30. No concerns on my part but will take my gas rebates!

My CEO picked out 'her' car; she drove a half dozen models, and we didn't get the Tuck for that mystical 31 either, though that number was intriguing.

Even the revised '30' will be hard to dupe unless one drives long distance at 55 or less, on flat roads, with a granny feel on the pedal.

And, the new SanteFeSport has lowered it's magical hwy # also...

I could care less about a rebate, and have read little that really explains how one might get any. My point is that the numbers are derived via the EPA test procedure(s) and I suspect Hyundai simply wanted to push the conditions to market those higher/unobtainable numbers. For that disingenuous bs, they should learn...

So the "ambulance chasers" have already prepared this.... class action lawsuit against hyundai canada. There's a separate american version as well.

I am ticked off that the 2011 is not included.. so far... and it's not that i want the mesly 100 dollar gas card... I just find it impossible to get the fuel economy numbers they're stating. Im averaging 11.6 L/100km... mixed (hwy and city) and they stating a combined of 8.7...???? i obviously know that driving habbits and other factors change the numbers but something just doesnt add up here. I can drive the car with lighest foot and still only achieve high 9 low 10 L/100.

Anyways i know theres a fuel economy thread, just thought i would link the lawsuit

I entered my VIN number on Hyundai's web site and it told me I wasn't entitled to the recall. I'm currently getting around 9.5 on the freeway at 100 kph. Maybe I should press the issue. According to Hyundai's revised fuel claim, I should be getting 6.8? Still not even close. That's still almost 3l less than stated.

The best I've ever seen is 7.8L/100km going from Sault Ste. Marie to North Bay. I was doing between 90 and 98 km/h, probably on average going downhill, and, it was summer. If I drive on a normal highway at normal speeds I will be lucky to get below 10. Currently, I see between 12.4 and 12.8 on mostly city.

80/20 -highway / city and the last 6 tanks during the winter were exactly the same- 8.9/ 100km
In the fall when I got the car same routes was averaging 8.3l/100

I drive approx 105 kmph on the highway and try to feather foot most of the time.

City definitely would run into the 11's and straight highway staying under 100 would be around 8.

Not too close to the Canadian ratings but then most cars aren't. I can't wait till they change the ratings procedure and get more real world with them.

IMHO, this vehicle does pretty well on fuel economy all things considered.

I've got a tank that was 29.5 MPG (9.683 gal.) This was almost all highway/freeway driving with three adults, one child and luggage for one. The computer said 26.9 but total miles over gallons was 29.5. My current average is 24.7

Oh, and I have AWD.
