Seat Belt Chime stuck ON

Hi. My Seat Belt chime is stuck on. I do not want to disable it. How can I troubleshoot why it is on?

Mine is a 2007 Tucson M/T 2.0 FWD For years the AIRBAG light has been on. When it started I was told by the agency that it was a failed contact at the Driver's Buckle assembly. Nevertheless, everything worked fine except for the alarm.

A few months ago I started noticing that sometimes when I turned off the motor and pulled out the key, the seat belt chime still was sounding. Inserting the key, turning it back and forth and pulling it out usually would solve it.

Today when I arrived at work, the alarm would not arm up (Viper model) and when I start up the engine and buckle up, the seat belt chime keeps dinging My immediate supposition is that something is wrong with the key cylinder and it is preventing the seat belt from turning off and the alarm from arming up.

I'd rather not go to the agency because I know the first thing they are going to say is that I have to replace the buckle assembly ($200+ probably) and it still it is not going to solve the problem.

Any Ideas?

Thanks!!!.

Weird. If it was just the light, I'd say ignore it. But the dinging noise, that would drive me bonkers. Too bad you can't just find the little bell part that makes the noise and disable it. I bet you can, but it'd probably be a pain in the butt. Sounds like a loose or broken wire on the "close" side of the wiring loop for the seat belt.

You say the airbag warning light has been on for a while now but does the seatbelt warning light still work normally. In other words, does the seatbelt light switch off when you plug your driver's seatbelt into the buckle?

The warning chime isn't just for the seatbelt. The one chime bell is used for other warnings too and my guess is if the chime was being caused by a faulty seatbelt buckle it would have been chiming away ever since the airbag light had come on.

It does sound like you might have a problem with the switch that senses when the ignition key is in the cylinder though, since the chime sometimes sounds even after the key is removed. But that switch is separate from the actual ignition switch so it's unlikely a fault with that switch would cause the alarm not to arm.

Yes Indeed. I did not check it out but yes, the seatbelt light switches off. Therefore as you said, the problem is not going to be with the seat belt.

Is that switch the one connected to M11? Or is it a different one?
I will treat the alarm problem as a separate issue although it seems too much coincidence that It decided to play dead as this problem appeared. Time to go spelunking under the dash.

Another related question. When I look up the buckle seat belt I see 888102E501U7 (left) and 888202E501U7 (right).
I assume that the "left" one is the one on the driver's seat even though it is on the right hand side of the seat. Am I right?

Thanks!!

Update.
Haven't sit down and work on this yet. Just disconnected the Chine Bell.
Nevertheless I just noticed another symptom.

The door lock unlocks itself if I try to lock the car while the engine is on and the car is stopped.
Once the car is moving I can try to lock it and it works. If I stop the car it remains locked.
But if I try to lock it while the car is stopped the signal to unlock is sent back.
Could it be a ETAC going bad?
