just a note: for switching into 4WL the car needs to be in neutral - or clutch pressed if it is has a clutch - and stationay ! ... (the manual cleary says: ..." stop the vehicle ..." ...)
not sure whether it is possible to switch into 4L when the car is rolling, but due to the leverage of the low range the impact of a sudden engagement can be destructive ...
another note: the dash lights only confirm the engagement of the transfer case (which can be heard anyway), but not the engagement of the CADS! ... the engagement of the CADS needs turning front wheels respectively line up of the axles splines ... consequently switching into 4WD when already bogged with the front wheels not turning anymore will likely not allow to engage the CADS ... there are some Terracan owners out there who wondered that while in 4WD (only signalized by the dashlights) they couldn't drive out of a bog hole ...because they switched too late into 4WD the rear wheels were only spinning, but not the front wheels preventing a syncronizing of the splines... to overcome this flaw I added an aftermarket reed contact and a LED to check the engagement of the CADS and now I can see that it can take quite some meters and time till the CADS is fully engaged...
