Wouldn't that tire design be really bad in the snow? No tread on the thing for starters...assuming that they do put on a deeper tread, then what happens when you have no sidewalls like that and snow gets into the flexible spokes of the tire? Not so flexible anymore, is it...So snow, salt, sand, grime, etc. gets packed in there and makes it a thick, solid block. Doesn't sound so swell to me. So maybe you end up solving that problem by putting on a sidewall, but then you lose the flexibility of the spokes. Maybe they could bring it to market as a summer/performance tire only, but I don't see how that design would work in the wintertime. Maybe I'm just being short-sighted; if anyone knows something more about it and can tell me how it would still work in the wintertime I'm game.
