hey if the interiour is anything like my 98 excel which it should be except the dash around the handbrack all you have to do is;
remove the coin tray, thats the one below the aircon heater controls.
once yourve done that then their should be two screws, undo them (obviously)

next you have to take off the control cord for the heating ect, their is one behind the glovebox if you can contort yourself enough then dont remove the glovebox as it is resonably difficult, then you should have two more behind the steering wheel remove the cover under the stearingwhell and there easy as to remove
- my advice when doing this is to move all the levers to one side as it will make it easier to replace them latter in the correct position.

then you just pull off the face plate that covers the stereo the whole thing will come off, you may feel as though your going to brake it but it is held on with clips so previded that you removed all the controls for the aircon it will come off fine without braking anything.

then its just unscrewthe head deck

:offtopic: im guessing your doing this to install a new one if this is the case then id go to your local auto parts stor and you can get an adaptor that will fit the plug on the back of your old stereo and the plug in the car this will save you like an hour because you wont have to muck around with soldering irons ect and it give a heaps better job

Hi, I'm encounter the same problem. I've unplugged a few things (hazard lights, rear windscreen stuff) and I think the AC button (well it didn't work when I turning it on).

However, I can't figure out which are the slider controller cords. If a location/visible description of what they I'd appreciate it.

Are the slider controls directly underneath the steering wheel area, or behind the all the controls/fascia plate?
