What you get for being lazy:
Rushed home after work and girly and I decided to make a lazy one tonight. So I drove by a pizza joint, ordered, stayed inside and sipped my diet coke.
20 minutes later, in the best mood, back to the car with fresh pizza in my hand.
Threw the pizza in the trunk (don't ruin that new car smell) and, while opening the driver door, I recognized "something" was different. Gap between left front fender and hood almost ½"?!? WTF §§$#&%....
To make a long story short it looks like a panel truck or van hit the left front. No note, no witness NOTHING, that s*cks.
Left fender bent, bumper deeply scratched and wounded, left headlight scratched (must have been a white truck or van).
Lucky the door got nothing though it's almost a zero gap between fender and door.
Sh*t happens what can you do. I estimate ~ $ 1500 - 1800 in damage (parts + labor + paint) which means a little set back in future mods.
Have a great weekend and get your pizza delivered!

What a drag! I feel for you, man. I'm dreading the day when something similar happens to my baby. Do you have insurance? I know it's not the same as having an untouched car, but if the deductible is not too high, it can soften the hit to the wallet.

Yeah, and if you filed a police report as a hit and run, the insurance company will not raise your rate or hold you responsible. I mean, you are entitled to eat out! Also, if you live in Vegas, CSI is really good at finding the crook based off of trace left on your car. At least that what I've seen on TV

That totally sucks.

I get so cheesed off about such things I would probably have went inside and asked for witnesses, and would have took the phone log for the last hour.

GAH!!!

Insurance? Sure all toys have full coverage with 500 deductible (cars) and 250 (bike). Thanks for the hint with the police report - will do.
Stuff like this happens, I'm not happy but what can you do...

My condolences, tyguy!!!

It's REALLY aweful when you have your car damaged, but it's so much MORE FRUSTRATING when you don't even know who, when, how, why...

I was just telling my daughter this morning while parking at a supermarket lot, that the big disadvantage of having a NEW car, is your FEAR of it being damaged, even the slightest scratch... Of course, telling it to my daughter was not too smart... She's just over 16, and one of her fears of driving is just that, damaging the new car (her mom's car is also less than a year old)...

Oh well, $hit happens. Could be much worse, you know it...

You'll go to a GOOD body shop (you're entitled to chose any body shop), and they'll fix the car, and you'll forget all about it.
