Hi all ... I have heard alot about resetting the ECU , how can I reset the ECU , and what are the benefits of doing so , and what are the disadvantages , considering that my car is a year old with 16 000 km mileage ... thanks in advance

reseting the ECU (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) will let the control unit removes all variable values from the RAM, so when u start your car again, it will start to learn your driving habits again from the begining for the first 300KM u drive after the reset.

but u don't need to do it. it is only needed when the ENGINE check lamp lights on. so to check if the error from the ECU itself or from one of its sensors.

oh by the way u can reset it by dissonecting the battery of the car for 30 minutes then connect it again

Beside disconnecting the battery, you can unplug the ECU fuse in the fuse box. This way, the radio and clock setting will not be reset saving you the trouble of setting it again. Look at the cover of the fuse box and look for ECU fuse position.... :)
