Hello fellow Sonata freaks, here's what I spent my Friday afternoon doing .. installed my roadyxt semi-permanently.

I decided to put the antenna on the hood since it's black and sort of matches the windshield washer nozzles. What do you think ? I would have preferred to leave it on the dash but without the ground plane I found it cut in and out quite a bit. Mounting it on the metal seemed to foot the bill  I placed it on the roof and trunk but I found it very "intrusive" looking and it didn't compliment the smooth lines above the belt line, I didn't care for it.

As for the roady, as you see I stuck it over the passenger airbag indicator - ha ha I guess I've decided I wanted that location bad enough to cover it up. It's a perfect spot, within very easy reach and the FM transmitter is literally an inch from the radio, the sound and clarity is great !! Should I be concerned about the air bag light ? Does it indicate a problem if the passenger bag isn't working ? Hmm, maybe I'll reconsider the location.

Oh also decided to paint the calipers .. what do you think of the bling ? :whistling:

The antenna looks good ! Almost a factory option or something. I don't know much about XM radio and was almost afraid to look ... expecting to see some shark fin looking antenna. But I digress.

The more I see that trunk spoiler the more I like it too ... might have to get one. Or maybe a big aluminum wing ! :whistling:

Digging the red calipers too. Maybe make-up a stencil that says Brembo and ... :57:

that is a REALLY bad place for the antenna.....its gonna get REALLY hot in the summer and it is in the direct path of the wind, so it will move slightly here and there (it does this on the roof of my tib) ... you should have placed it on the far right or left hand corner of the dash...the reception is perfectly fine there (thats where it is on my 06 sonata) .... as for the placement of the unit its ok..but you will not know if your passenger side airbag is malfunctioning....you should get the direct FM modulation cable for the unit, because ifyou drive far enough to get a station on the channel its set to, it will sound horrible

thanks for the comments guys. The spoiler came from the dealer. I bought this car off the showroom, they had dealer installed the spoiler and I got it thrown in with my purchase. I really like it - it's just the right size where it is not too big or too small.

also malik. I did have my antenna on the dash, it was my preferred location but I found the channels were cutting in and out all the time. I guess this particular antenna works best with the ground plane - it's worked perfect thus far on the hood. Good observation about the heat - didn't even think of that, I guess I just assumed it wouldn't get hot enough there to worry about .. hmm .. now the cable you speak of - I thought there was no input on the stock radio for the cable ?
