Can the owners of the 2006 Sonatas Let me know about the Latch set up in the Car? How man latch hook up system is in the new Sonata? Is it two in the back or three (left, middle, right). How easy is it to hook up the Latch baby carseat? Any info would be appreciated it.

I have had a car seat in my car since I bought it in Ocotber 2005. It is VERY easy since the hooks are right on the back "dash" (where speakers are). Just hook it up and tighten it. Much easier than some cars who put it behind the seats.

Are there also hooks in the car next to the lap belt anchors, in the "crack" between the seat and the backrest? It seems that using only the seat belt plus a top latch to secure the seat is never really tight enough.

Thanks for the info. From the scanned manual, it looks like you have to use the seatbelt to tighten the carseat instead of lower latch. Which seems to be defeats the purpose. I am assuming lower latches are not available on the middle seats?

My Sonata only has the latches up by the back window. I have used bungy cords on the bottim of the seat which I fasten up under the back seat to keep it in place better.

I'd have to look at mine but I think you can use the inside latch of both sides to attach your car seat in the middle. I did this with my Sorento and it worked marvelousy.

Of course there is the tether attatchment point on the rear deck for the top tether. I know the lower latches on my sorento were long enough to accomodate 2 car seats. 1 was in the middle and the other was on the passenger seat outside position.

On the topic of car seats I will point out a tip for all to make sure the car seat is in tight enough. The law up here (Canada) says you should not be able to move the seat any more than an inch side to side. To be honest this is just too much play for me. All 4 of my car seats (2 in each vehicle) move no more than a couple of millimeters if at all.

The way I get them in so tight is for me to get into the seat with my knee and put all of my 200+ pounds into it. Believe mefolks if you do his and God forbid get into an accident your childeren will thank you for it.

Oh and it is VERY easy to get a car seat in. I can put a car both of my car seats in in a little over 10 minutes.

I don't have kids or anything, but I was reading the book the other day and it said it was a bad idea to latch a seat in the middle to the side seats' hooks. Just thought I'd mention it.

I would like to correct myself on a point I made last night about using the middle latch for car seat mounting. According to Hyundai you should not mount any more than one car seat to any given latch point.

So you can use the inside latches only if you have one car seat in the back and want it in the middle. I'm sorry for any confusion my previous post may have caused.
