Check it out, a nice video review of the 06 Sonata on WheelsTV!

"...is definately in the same league as the category leaders from Honda, Toyota, and Nissan when it comes to the cost vs quality equation..."

PennyWise -

Loved the video - that's my car minus the moonroof. Doesn't that Golden Beige look terrific?

I noticed the rims in the video are 5 spoke. My GLS rims are 6 spoke.

That totally looked like an LX to me, as those are LX rims and the interior looks exactly like mine with the leather and automatic air conditioning.

Nice video I must say.

I had to go out and look in the driveway to count the number of spokes. That car they are driving is definitely an LX.

You can get 5-spoke, 17" rims on a GLS, as the one in my garage would attest.

I have the GLS V6 with Accessory Group 5, aka "Sport Package" meaning it has the sunroof, autodimming mirror with homelink, power driver's seat, and 17" rims.

I guess they must not sell a lot of Sonatas equipped like that, because I haven't seen a lot like mine on the road, and most people don't know you can get one like that. I didn't want a few of the things that were on the LX, and this one had everything that I wanted so it was an easy choice for me.

Another slightly off-topic bit of information: Canadian version of LX is called GLS Premium.

however the cdn version does not have the upgraded radio option (6 disc, sub, amp) or the extra colour choices :( :(
though our GLS and GLS Premium comes with the moonroof as standard so go figure (?)

Also the Canadian GLS Premium is listed as such on the web site, however the dealers internally refer to it as an LX :)

I also noticed the US website has the following listed:
Chrome exterior door handles
Premium door sill plates
Chrome window belt moldings

Now I know we have the sill plate (it's kinda snazzy..says Sonata embossed in the metal), but we don't get the door handles and I'm not sure what the window belt moulding is.

Anyone know if the cdn sonata comes with the driver lumbar adjustment?

Chrome window belt molding = thin line of chrome trim on the exterior at the bottom of the windows. Kind of like the "belt" of the car.

As for lumbar adjustment in Canadian Sonatas, I can't say for sure since I'm not a Canuck, but it should be there - can't imagine they would alter something like a seat from US to Canada. Then again, I'm sure a lot of people thought they might carry bright silver in Canada, since they have it in the US...

:innocent:

no crystal silver (what a bad name) is a light baby blue. i've seen one at the transit parking lot and it looks alright but i dont know how much i'ld like it after 3 or 4 years.

the gls does have the chrome strip along the bottom edge of the window frame.

It's there, it just might be still hidden under a black strip of tape that was on there during shipping. Just coax that black strip off of there and enjoy the bling!
