I think if you don't get the factory sub and disc changer the power comes from your head unit. No amp, would have to run all the wires. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Might it be a bad omen that "Hyundai Sonata" is an anagram for "hasn't any audio"?

No amp kits here, but I'm full of anagrams. Sorry, I realize that's no help. Still mildly amusing, though (at least to me).

I spent Five Hundred and Fifty Dollars for a factory Subwoofer & Amplifier and it sounds great!. And now that I know the basic units lack a little something, I am glad that my Car came with that option.

With that said, I sure wish I had the Nav/Mp3 player like the Sonata I saw for 30 large!.

Yes I know mine plays Mp3's most of the time, 6 discs worth! The Navigation unit is also a Radio. You can still get a Cassette player with the Azera, in case anybody remembers them?.

I've done a little research on this subject and I have found out it is "reletively" easy to add a sub and amp to your existing factory sterio. All you need to do is buy one of these ready made kits and you are laughing.

You could even by a separte amp and sub package and build it yourself as long as the amp has "speaker level inputs." This allows you to tap into the existing speaker wires as the factory deck has no pre-outs and you are all set. I hope this helps anyone out there wanting more out of their stereos.

A nice and more compact sub/amp combo is the Kenwood KSC-SW1. It's very small, includes wires, installs to any head unit and sounds great for it's size. It will fit right under the seat and take up no foot room whatsoever. It add no mids just low end but it means you can turn the head unit bass down and the let the sub do the low end work. It rounded out the sound for my lackluster saab stereo perfectly and I will install it in the Sonata in the near future. Pick one up on ebay for around $150 and I guarantee it will beat out the upgraded Sonata sub.

Kenwood KSC-SW1

Just read the reviews. It's an impressive little unit. It includes all wiring also. Best Buy (if you trust them to do the work) will install it for $50. So for $200 total you can get a nice sound upgrade for the low end. I'm not one of those thumping rap music types but when I listen to Jazz for instance I love a nice clean and deep bass and this little sub really did the trick.
