So, it's springtime.....BUG SEASON.

What's the best way to remove the KERSPLATT! (kinda on the k-thunk vibe, eh?) bug guts between washes? That is, most efficient way to remove them without damaging paint and/or protectant.

Your suggestions please.

Any commercial bug/tar remover will do

Just don't use solvents designed for other purposes - I did once many years ago and the warnings against doing so were entirely justified.

Oy, I know what you mean. We've got bugs galore here right now. We're having to wash and wax the car every weekend. I use Meguiar's wax, and it seems to make the bugs come off pretty easy.

It's only about 3-4 weeks until "love bug" season. When they're really swarming, your car can look like it grew a beard from all the black wings stuck on the front of the car. They are REALLY hard on paint, and must be removed immediately or they will permanently etch the paint.

Wonder if there's a bra for the 06 Sonata yet?

Hi Bobad,

You might want to check out this thread for info on the clear paint film. Works better than the traditional black bra and looks better too (mainly because you can't see it).

I've had this installed on my Sonata and it's already taken a few hits which would otherwise have ruined the paint underneath.

Items required:

* case of beer
* spray bottle
* funnel or catheter

First, drink the case of beer and enjoy. Second, fill the spray bottle with processed contents from the case of beer. Third, apply liberally to windshield (avoiding all painted surfaces) and allow to soak in. Fourth, scrub briefly with non-abrasive cloth or squeegee. Finally, don't forget to rinse well or you'll just attract more bugs.

Carlos, Carlos, Carlos. You gotta be respectful. I don't know if you've noticed, but this is no ordinary forum. You could wake up with a horse's head in your bed. Capisci? :beer:

What's not to respect, bobad? Natural ammonia solution such as the one I suggest is an excellent window cleaner, it's cheap (substitue water for beer) and it's environmentally friendly. Oh, and seeing as I don't own a race horse to kill, it might be a better threat to leave my Sonata steering wheel on my pillow. :w00t:

Oh no! We've been found! Now DayMX5 is going to cart us off to the deathcamp and pelt our Sonatas with bugs and bird poo.

And I still haven't been able to get any Meguiar's Quick Detailer yet...whatever will I do?
