Hi. I'm a new member looking for some advice. I live in Surrey in the UK. I own a Hyundai Pony 1.3 GL 1990. I've always messed about with cars and also own a Mk1 Golf GTI , a Mazda Xedos 6, and an Evante. The Pony didn't cost much and until now has been useful and reliable. Unfortunately I think a bearing has gone in the gearbox, and its just after I've given the cylinder head an overhaul. Also it has a recent new clutch, cam belt and alternator, so I'm reluctant to scrap it. It's like the release bearing has disintegrated accompanied by a screeching noise and jerky gear/clutch engagement. But I know the clutch and release bearing are ok 'cos I've separated the engine amd gearbox (again) and checked it out. Any ideas please? If anyone has experience of this problem (and the required fix) please reply. Thanks.
