I found some really nice 13" 5 star rims online and supposedly they fit perfectly on a '94 Hyundai Excel. The tire size on a 1994 Hyundai Excel CX is "P 185 / 80 R 13".

Now there is some information on those rims I found and I'm not exactly sure what this information means. Can anybody help me out here?

Size: 13x5.5
Backside Spacing (in/mm): 4.625/117
Offset: 35mm

Under the heading "Size" I realize the "13" indicates the number of inches, but what does the "5.5" represent? (Width of the rim, possibly?)

And what is "Backside Spacing" and "Offset" mean? Do those numbers I've listed coincide with the 1994 Hyundai Excel CX's specs? If anybody can help out (in plain English) please let me know as I'm considering on buying those rims.

Thanks people.

the offset and backside spacing, im pretty sure, have to do with thge bolt pattern ont he rim, you need to match that to the bolt pattern of the car...

back spacing is the amount that comes after the rotor

Also....

If you check out www.americanracing.com, under the "Applications" tab you'll see an item called "Wheels Visualization". If you click on it, you can fit certain rim sizes onto your car and get a rough idea of what those rims would look like on your car.

So in my case, I was able to build a 1994 White Hyundai Excel CX with the rims of my choice.

According to the application they had online, my car has a maximum diameter of 18", which means I can actually install up to 18" rims. I've selected some really nice 17" rims from the site, but of course, if I install 17" rims of course my tire size would change. Here's my question ; If I install 17" rims, what would my tire size change to????

I'm thinking it would change from "P155/80R13" (which is the car's original OEM specs) to "P205/50R17".

Any thoughts????

:whistling:

check your local laws. in australia, you cant alter the overall diameter of the wheel(inc tyre) by more than 2 inches, or some bs(otherwise it affects speedo, etc.... but as long as they dont catch u....

i think, for 17's, you need series 50 tyres to keep the same wheel diam.... thats all i can remember

Ok,

That's pretty much what I was saying in my previous post. Currently I've got ;

"P155/80R13" and if I buy 17" rims then I KNOW the last part of my tire size will go to "/50R17" but

WHAT ABOUT THE FIRST PART OF THE TIRE SIZE????

The smallest tire size that ends with "/50R17" that I was able to google was ;

"P205/50R17".

I just want to make sure that if I buy those rims then I've got the right tire size on. That it'll work. Is there any tire experts here???

Somebody?? Anybody.

:banana:

Hi, I have a 1995 Hyundai Excel and I put on 4 CSA Edge 16" rims, but the problem it that the 2 front tyres poke out 3cm from the body of the car. Is that legal? or can I adjust somthing? How would I solve the problem? Thank you!

The best thing is to try them on first. It does not take long to slap one on in the front for all clearance and the rear.
