Purchased my Sante Fe about 3 months ago. I live in Edmonton Ab. and with the winter weather decided to purchase rubber car mats to protect the interior from water/mud etc. Today I removed the rubber mat on the driver side and noticed that the factory mat and flooring underneath are saturated with water. Has anyone else experienced the same problem or have any idea what the problem might be? I purchased a pant saver style rubber mat with deep grooves so it should have protected the underneath from moisture.

Thanks,

your vehicle is under warranty so get it back to your dealer before it does any more damage. most likely causes are a faulty door seal or windscreen seal

I just bought a used 2001 V6 AWD and I was doing some wiring work and had to remove the driver's seat and I found the same thing water under the driver's side carpet. What did you do fix the problem? I don't want to have crawl around and look underneath to much to search for the problem. Thanks

Doggie, this thread is almost 4yrs old. In regards to the original poster, I've experienced this exact same thing. What I've experienced is; Rubber mats that have a large water holding capacity will inevitably spill over the side and saturate what ever is underneath. The mats and carpet under the rubber mat cannot breathe and what's wet will stay wet.

PomansAWD, I do hope that is the problem with mine, the 2001 santy I got has hyundai factory rubber mats that do not have a large capacity but if there was snow and it melted, then the next day more snow was brought it I could see how this cycle could leave the standing water under the carpet and sound dampering foam. There also is usually not enough air movement for how ever long you are in the car to dry out what was deposited on that day. I also have a sunroof on mine so I will keep an eye on that to because it might be on of the drainage tubes blocked. I got a response from CJS and he traded the vehicle in last year and never got to the bottom of the problem. I am keeping the sound foam out to dry out and leaving the carpet not tucked back under the molding to watch the next time it rains to see if water appears from the bottom. Thanks for your input and I will update when something happens.

Good deal. Like you say, I've seen the drain tubes on factory sunroofs plug causing interior water leakage. If you can locate the tiny drain holes, a snake-out w/ a thin pc of wire usually clears them out.
