 I live in a rather hot climate in south texas. I am going to use Amsoil for sure. Any opinions on 10w40 vs. 10w 30. The 30 would improve milage, but the the technical web sight recommends 40 for my climate...Funny because the manual says both are fine. Anyways the XG is a Lexus for half price.

It depends on your driving behavior. If you race the engine frequently at high rev, you should use 10W40 (or even 5W50). I am in Jakarta and I use 10W40.

Hi...

I am living in Saudi Arbia... Temperature in my city is 40 degrees most of the year....

Hot bad weather...

My Car is more than 250 000 KMs and still running good...

I use 20w50 sw mobil oil. the frequency of changing the oil is from 2500KM to 4000KM, depending on the style of driving.

So.....you can decide what to use....

BEST WISHES.

I wouldn't think you'd see much difference bewtween 10w30 and 10w40 but the best general rule for hot climates is to use the heaviest oil your manufacturer recommends for your climate.

The engine will probabaly also run a bit quieter with the 10w40.
