woo that is pretty hot! where do you get stuff like that. think that's a custom paint job? i like that a whole lot more than the generic white or black, which seems to be the choice of most modders for some reason. looks like a custom hood too.

Don't think the hood's all that "custom" - looks like they just removed the chrome insert in the front.

Has anyone successfully removed dealer emblems? The 3D plastic type?

Dealer emblems?!?!?
Do you mean the "Hyundai" and "SONATA" badges at the trunk lid?
If the car is new take a soft cloth and a teaspoon. Put the cloth underneath the spoon and carefully lift them to remove. They are double sided rubber glued. If you are patient the glue sticks to the letters, if not carefully remove the glue and wax the area after removal. Leaves no marks or holes (and was the first thing removed at mine)

some dealers afix a plastic badge on the trunk (instead of say a license plate frame with their name). i detest these badges and wouldn't want one on my new vehicle (regardless of brand).

I make it perfectly clear that I won't accept a new car if it has a dealer decal on the back. Nobody's fought me on it, either, but then again the dealer I've been buying from doesn't usually put decals on I guess.

The more local dealer, though, sticks these big chrome gaudy badges on each car as soon as it rolls off the truck. Ewwww.

Just tell them you don't want it. Most dealer don't put those stickers on until the vehicle is sold. If they do put them on before they are sold, they are stuck with the vehicle in most cases, as other dealers won't trade for them.

I've bought three new cars now, and I've asked each dealer not to put on the decal on each of them. None of the dealers have had a problem with it. To make them feel better, I always tell them to go ahead and put the dealer license plate bracket on. Two screws is alot easier to deal with.

Those decals can be removed. They are basically like bumper stickers, and can be removed, but why go down that path?

yes i'm going to be sure to ask for no badging. a plate i can handle as those can be unscrewed and replaced with those illegal smoke grey covers :whistling:

even worse then badges? STICKERS! i've seen some dealers use stickers on their cars. now that is just grounds for a beating.

I'm mad as well, they put a dealer license plate frame on the car IN FRONT and back!! I didn't plan to drive with a front plate (at least until the first "fix it" ticket) but now there are holes.... so no option.

Dang, that sucks...I guess now I don't feel bad about the big tacky sticker they stuck on the back of mine.

How bad would it be to debadge mine with 26000 miles on the dial? I would've done it before, but spring just got here and I didn't want to do it in the wintertime (I bought it in mid-November). Keep in mind, of course, that the paint is ebony black (concerned about fading).

I debadged a 2 year old motorcycle with absolutely no paint fading so I don't think it will be a problem. I think debadging these cars and lowering them a little with tinted windows all by itself would make the Sonata look pretty tight. Ok add Xenons too.

Not a fan of label remover stuff, even the orange stuff cause sometimes paint damage
on top I'm not sure if this works for the crappy dealer stickers as well... it worked for me for all other stuff i wanted to get rid off so give it a try.
What you need:
- Patience
- Warm/hot water-detergent mix (NO dishwasher detergent that stuff is aggressive).
- Missus' plain old blow dryer
- Soack the label (sponge may help)
- Heat it up with the blow dryer
- Remove carefully by peeling with fingers and nails ONLY

IF the paint still has some glue take a soft cloth and some wax (this yellow micro fiber stuff works well, even on a black car - I have a black car and bike).
WORST case (but that's really W O R S T case) take some 5000 (or higher) grain paint scratch remover wax.

Happy label removing

Got rid of the dealer stickers (it was in about a billion parts, of course)! :w00t:

How much harder is it to do the badges? And how important to rewax the area? Reason I ask is 'cause I got a really expensive paint protectant put on it after I got the car, don't really want to have to redo it if I don't have to...
