We've had the S'notta for a month now, but haven't been approached, or contacted about a survey, or questionaire. Does it usually take this long? I know Hyundai is working hard on gaining quality "Brownie" points. I am wondering how jaded the questions are. If you say the car goes "k-thump, or the headrest rattles, or the engine whines," do they just brush it off and still ask if you are satisfied, and if you say you are, do they chalk it up as another 100% satisfied customer?? :gitara:

I'm about to make my second payment and just received & filled out the survey. The one I received had more to do with dealership satisfaction and what other car makes & models they beat in me buy a sonata. Still waiting on a car quality related survey...I would expect this to be a JD Power driven survey not manufacturer driven but who knows.

For what it's worth I love the car. I have over 4k miles on it so far and average 23.7 mpg. I'm in sales and drive a lot of city / highway. I would like ti to come closer to the 30 mpg but I'm still learning the best way to drive it and occassionally like to feel the acceleration it delivers.

So far I've tinted the windows, debadged the rear view, painted the calipers red. Looks sharp in the steel grey. I'd buy another in a heatbeat.

Tony

I feel the same way, but i bought my car just 6 weeks ago. Let's see if the love feast will continue in a year or so.

Regarding the survey................nothing yet. Not even the first payment bill.
The car so far is an A- (the minus for the rear noise, less than expected MPG, and some weird ocaccional trany behavior). The Dealer in the other hand deserves an F. It was a very painful experience but the next closest Hyundai dealer was 30min away.

I also completed my survey about 1 week after first payment. In reference to your gas mileage I can suggest you try several different brands. I found a difference of 3mpg as reported by the computer when I tried a more reputable station. And I do all local driving. I'm getting 18mpg with the recent tank.

Hey what Windows did you tint and what percentage? (tony in ohio), and do you mean by debadged the rearview mirror? Im thinking of tinting my car i have the midnight blue LX and here in MASS 35% of legal.

Has anyone here with the LX model feel that you need a lil added pressue on the Gas before it starts to move? I'm not sure if it's just me? I'm used to driving a standard and the slightest touch would give the car gas.

I don't have much gripes about the car well I do hear that Thump tho so maybe Hyundai is working on it as somebody in the other Sonata Post stated.

Thanks

Very inaccurate, indeed.

The Trip Computer is not at all accurate, since it simply measures the position of the floating device in your gas tank...

And city driving is so variable from one day to another...

If you really want something that's closest to accurate, fill the gas tank up till it click, don't try adding more gas, reset the trip odometer to ZERO... And then go out for a LONG drive, on an open highway, STEADY speed (use the Cruise Control) of about 70, no stopping, minimum slowing down, drive as far as you could (3-4 hours?).... And then fill it up again, only till it clicks again. And then do the math. Gallons used -- per miles driven. Voila. That's the closest you'd get to your car's true "highway mpg".

City mpg is VERY inaccurate to measure. Unless you drive ONLY in the city, and keep all your gas receipts for several months, then you can calcualte some kind of an average....

hi kewlkat, I had had the front side windows tinted 20% and the rear side windows and back window tinted 50%.

Depending on who you talk to "debadge", "shave", etc. refers to removing the lettering on the car. I removed the HYUNDAI, SONATA and V6 from the painted surfaces. I left on the hyundai emblem that's recessed in the trunk.

I had the tint, diamond gloss, undercoating and rustproofing all done at Ziebart. I asked them to removed the lettering in exchange for the diamond gloss paint protection and they were reluctant but agreed.

I need to drop the file size on my camera and I'll post some pics.

Yes, I think there is a dead spot in either the throttle or the transmission. It acts a little strange sometimes.

I didn't even have my Sonata 2 weeks and I had a survey to fill out. Modt things were alright although I was less than impressed with the fact that upon delivery the car did not have a full gas tank.

Needless to say I ut it in my surevey that I was not happy about this. I've mailed it away quite some time ago and I have not heard a word about it. Maybe they'll do something for me when I take it back for the first oil change.

Then again I guess I had better not hold my breath.......

On the topic of tint my windows were done by the dealership and while I'm not too sure the specs on it is a lite tint maybe 20-30% all around. Looks good IMO.

I never recieved one either. The dealership just about begged for all tens. My dealer was sleazy and they knew I was not happy with them so I figured that's why I didn't get the survey. Besides they should wait about six months if not longer to send it if they want meaningfull feedback about the car.

maybe you American customers don't get the survey from Hyundai ? It seems as if the canuck guys are getting them. Had my car about a month and haven't received it yet but it's supposedly coming.

Tony in Ohio - what type of paint did you use for your calipers ? My car is white and I think red calipers would look sweet - do you have to use heat resistant paint or did you just throw some Tremclad rust paint on them from the local NAPA or something ?

It took about a month to get the survey for us. I came from Hyundai, although it was more about what we thought of the dealer. I got a full tank of gas out of it.

One thing I have to say is our dealer rocks ! They are Legacy Hyundai in-case anyone is close enough to Tallahassee to drive over.

Mine was a phone call from Hyunday.

Also got JDPower's survey, specifically relating to the Sonata, and they also attach ONE US DOLLAR to it. So I filled it up and sent it to them.

I called my sales lady today to clarify something on the contract. She asked if I had received the survey yet, and I said not yet. She said "When you fill out the survey, if you put in my hand, I'll fill your tank". Now days, gas is a better perk than an oil change!

My dealer is also very good so far. Time will tell!

We've owned our Sonata since Jan 27th. Still no survey, etc. I'd LOVE to trade a positive report for a tank of gas!!! That'd be a $70 bonus, as of this week, anyway. (at $1.06.9/litre.)

Most Dealers will fill your Tank if you bring in a blank survey. Plus I was even going to get a free Vacation to Orlando. I don't want a free vacation to Orlando. It's one of those timeshare deals no doubt?.

When I bought my Elantra in 2004, the purchase survey came by email & by mail about a month after. There is no way to print out the online survey though. I'd wait for the hard copy for your free stuff, if any. Even the new area Hyundai dealer offered to buy my blank survey!
