I have a 2002 XG 350L with 67k on it. For some reason intermittently the ABS and TCS lights come on at the same time and the speedo just goes dead. I will be going 60 on the highway and it will just read zero. Then if I turn the car off and turn it on again it will be fine for another couple days. Then randomly the ABS and TCS lights will turn on again and the speedo craps out again. Any ideas as to why this is happening? The car seems to drive ok.

I also have this problem only the TCS and ABS lights remain on until i restart the car (no problems with the speedo). I have assumed there is a wiring fault somewhere (maybe the loom) becuase it only seems to happen when hit a bump etc.

I assumed the problems is there is a short which dips the voltage down below its required point for voltage regulation.

you will almost certainly find this problem is due to a faulty voltage regulator, the only solution is to replace the alternator

I can vouch for this since I have had my alternator replaced for the same issue.
