:00000732: HELP WANTED PLEASE
Hi everyone, Itsatusconmatey and his other significant half are trying to plan a special Round the World Holiday to celebrate or anihilate their 60th birthdays later this year. (Quite a few years of modest savings being used for this!)

As we have just started the planning of this trip we really do need to resolve the plans ASAP to ensure places on Flights etc. and we would really appreciate anyone living in the proposed destination area's contacting us with details of places of interest and also modest priced/costed accomodation. We are not planning to drive whilst away so details of local transport, buses trains etc would be a help.
ie: can we get a train from Toronto to/from Niagra Falls- will it be cheaper to stay near there or somewhere in the city?

We hope to be going to

Toronto-San Francisco-Honalulu-Aukland New Zealand-Sydney-Melbourne-Adelaide-Cairns Australia-Singapore Malaysia and finally-Hong Kong China
Leaving the UK around the 19th September 06

1st destination is Toronto, we plan to stay for 4 days or so and visit the city plus Niagra Falls. (Romantic old devil I am)

2nd destination is San Francisco staying for 7-10 days

3rd Destination is Honalulu staying for 2-3 days

4th Destination is Aukland New Zealand staying for 7-10 days

5th Destination is Sydney Australia plan to also go to Melbourne, Adelaide, Ayers Rock and Cairns staying for about 4-5 weeks in total

6th Destination is Singapore staying for about 7-10 days

7th Destination is Hong Kong staying for about 7 days

Returning to the UK in early/mid December(Where it will be cold n wet again no doubt)

Well thats it folks anyone that can help I'd be greatful and if you are coming to the UK sometime perhaps I can Help you (I live near to lots of Historic sites and only 25 miles from London)

Regards

Geoff

Hi Mate.

I live near Toronto. Grew up in Toronto. I still work in Toronto.

What do you need to know? (Not that I know anything)

Train from Toronto to Niagra Falls...I think so. ( "Via Rail" & "GO" train I think? )
It's only an hour and twenty minuites to drive the distance.
Save some money and take a bus.

To stay in Niagra Falls is pretty expensive just as is Toronto...
But at least Niagra is the honeymoon capital of the world. (at least in North America it is.)

While in Toronto be sure to see the...

CN Tower
(tallest free standing structure in the world. And a great falic symbol. Might get the Mrs. in the mood eh! )

Cruise up Yonge Street (but not all of Yonge St. It's the longest street in the world.)

Basket Ball (the Toronto Raptors) (suck this year)

Hockey (The Toronto Maple Leafs) (great loosing streak right now)

Casa Loma is an old castle (if your into those things)

We have some nice beach areas (but it's too cold now)(except for those nut cases that jump in durring winter)

Lots & lots of food places. You could easily spend your retirement savings in TO.

Night club district (if you like dancing)

Our beer is made in Canada. (nothing like USA beer but not muddy like UK stuff)

Theater and symphony's are big (sorry I'm not into that type of stuff)

A tour guide would be best

Hi, I live in toronto also. Angelocardoc pretty much sumed it up but if you come in the summer you could also go to marine land, and see the wales and dolfins, its pretty nice, and its only a few min from the falls. You should go up the CN tower its pretty cool, again if its in the summer, if the blue jays are playing you can watch some of the game through the glass floor in the CN tower, you can see right into the skydome. (when they have the dome open)

When you are traveling in Australia

Melbourne and Sydney are large cities great for shopping and mad for sport and sporting activities when in Sydney book in to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, See the opera house and you must go on a ferry cruse of the harbour
Melbourne fantastic eating many cafes they say that Melbourne has the second largest Greek population in the world first is Athens
Adelade is full of old Churches great city but the tap water tastes funny to me you must go to the wine/vineyard district for a great day out
Ayers Rock is actualy called Uluroo ans is under the ownership of the Local Aborigines you may require a permit to climb the rock but the traditional owners prefer you dont but if you must it must be treated with respect.
The rock is in the dessert so expect bugs and creepy crawlies BUT there is a Modern resort close by in the township, its an oasis in the dessert modern but blends in with the suroundings with cool pools to swim in all day and night.
Cairns my favourite in gods own country Queensland if you like Golf, reef diving, fishing, and island hopping via cruse boat.
Australians are good natured they tend to rib you a little in a good natured way so dont take any comments to heart
We like beer and anything outdoors and sport
Please dont forget your sunscreen I am warning you that if you are not used to the sun you will spoil your holiday because as we say you dont want to look as red as a beetroot.
All cities are modern with first class hospitals, roads, and everithinf else.
Hope this helps

Hi angelo,

Check Australia out on Google earth. It's very interesting.

Google also the Franklin river, Uluru, Sydney Harbour, Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs, Melbourne, Adelaide, Dubbo, Wagga Wagga (Aboriginal for "many crows") for starters. And don't forget Wollongong.

Cheers,

Andrew
