I have recently discovered a cracked manifold on my 99 Accent GSi. I have found articles all over the internet regarding this issue on these vehicles. Hyundai is replacing the ones in USA for free but will not do anything for people in Canada.

Myself and a neighbour both have cracked manifolds.

I am looking to find out how many people have had to replace their exhaust manifold and was it covered under warranty?

Please also list where you live (state/province only)

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Actually, the exhaust manifold recall in the US is for the Elantra and Tiburon, not the Accent. There isn't a recall on the manifold on the Accent.

That's not true.

1999 Hyundai Accents are also covered. I got my letter a year ago and
brought it in to be checked several months ago.

It's now coered up to 10 years from cracks.

Count me in - I just found it last month. Exactly the same as in your picture.
It's just a hair-line crack at the moment, and next to nothing escaping from it, but it won't be long until it gets serious.
I'm in Ontario, Canada (GTA).

So that's 3 in total so far?

Manifold is cracked on my wife's '99 Accent as well (we are in Newfoundland, Canada) ... can a cracked manifold be repaired by welding?
Have Hyundai Canada flat-out refused to do anything about this common problem? Also, how expensive to replace the mainfold altogether?
Thanks in advance!

HI, Ill add my bit, my exhaust manifold is cracked as well but hyundai accent is a 97 and I am in the United Kingdom. I was told that you can get it welded but it would probably be cheaper to get one from a scrap yard. But you need to be carefull when removing it form the head as the bolts might snap and like mine, the exhaust manifold is connected to the Cat, so dont really want to mess that up either.

Remove heat shield, its not hard, replace manifold with junkyard manifold.

Shoot, I'd rather replace the manifold than the starter... That's how easy it is, if you're inclined. :57:

I just got back from a oil change and engine light repair. Mechanic ran the code PO139. The cause is exhaust manifold cracked in several spots. Says he has changed many of these on Elantra's. He suggested contacting the dealer to see about guarantee replacement. I will post the outcome of warranty in Canada

I replaced my manifold about two or three months ago. I took the cracked one off and replaced it with one from the wreckers. I did not have any problems doing it and it only cost me about 40 bucks.

Hello

Just returned from the dealer, no go. The recall goes by VIN# and mine is not on the list. They did however come out with an estimate of $2500. More than the car is worth!!
Manifold, catalytic converter and two sensors.

Guess who is not buying another car from Korea. However the Elantra is a good cheap car even if the brakes suck.

Count me in as well.

Third owner of a 99 Accent, Toronto ON.

I had to replace mine two years ago, had no clue that it may/may not have been covered in a recall.

My machine is just about ready to bite the dust by the end of the year with 346,000 km on it currently.

E.
