One thing I have noticed with my journeys to and from work. I used to log 28.5 miles each way when driving my Toyota Carina (could sometimes claim mileage if called out) Now I am recording 26.3 for the same journey!! Could the Tuc be under declaring mileage? Has anyone else out there noticed any change in your jouney length?

Rich

I noticed the same thing in my new Tucson. Every week I make a trip of exactly 120 kilometers (about 75 U.S. miles) -- that's the distance on the map and that is what my Volkswagen was reporting as well. With the Tucson, the same trip is coming up four or five kilometers (about three miles) short.

That might not seem like much, but it can add up to inaccurate fuel consumption. It also will give me a bit longer on my warranty. I guess I don't mind, but Hyundai's not doing itself any favors by having an imprecise odometer.

Thats exactly what I thought markbowen. If the tuc is recording less miles than you are actually doing, it might make sense of the recorded low F.C. ( sorry, I know I'm not supposed to mention the 'F' word :whistling: :whistling:

I think you might be right. There is a snippet from someone in the FC thread I think that says that Tuc records about 4% less. I too have a daily journey of 25.5 miles to work according to some other cars I have had and my 2004 Tucson records the trip as 24.5.

Just to be naughty and mention FC, this means that if I am 24 US/MPG according to the trip computer I am actually getting 24X1.2 * 1.04 = 29.95. A bit better but still less than I would expect.

This also means that every 10,000 mile service it would have covered 10,400.

If I have got my thinking head on it also means that 60MPH is really 62.4.

I just test with my wife's TUCSON today, I drive from home to office, tucson shows 18.4 KM, but use my CIVIC it shows 19.2 KM, just did a math (19.2-18.4)/19.2=0.042.
4.2%. I haven't test if speed meter has same problem .

I confirm your findings, Richwafta. My new Tucson is recording 5.0% less mileage.

I measured on a distance of cca 60km with GPS. The exact difference was +4% for GPS. So the fuel consumption is 4% less too :-)

I have a portable gps unit inmy 2005 Tucson. When speedometer says I am going 50mph, the gps says 52mph. Those numbers seem to go along with the other info I have read on this subject.
