Second insert in a day

When i bought my Accent the first thing i did was to change the Head Unit. I put a new Kenwood cd player in there so i can run new speakers and a sub and amp from in the boot.

( Just like to point out at this point that i am not one of those people who drive by your house and night with the bass turned to max )

When it can to put the new stero in then the cage would not fit. After about an hour of filing back the dash the cage went in, but when you put the removable front on then it sticks out about 1.5 inches. I have looked at the back of the dash and cannot see a way to drop the cage back further.

Any help would be greatly welcome.

Thanks :)

I had a similar problem with my stereo but there was no place to fit the stereo cage - instead there were two brackets that screwed onto the side of the stereo and then screwed onto the center console structure. - my stereo also pokes out forward a bit - but the only way to fix that is to make two new brackets.

Was the old stereo fitted in a cage?
