At least 5 mph.

which could be from the 'top off' of the tank

Didn't you learn alraedy that this is a NO NO? Topping off is NOT good for your car (it needs some "breathing" at the top of filler pipe) and it's NOT good for the environent (spilling out gas) and it's NOT good for your car's paint, causing rust (the ONLY rust spot on my old '95 Accord was right under the gas door).

We expect an apology.

Ummm, ok. I'm sorry you don't understand. :bwekk:

In my world 'topping off' is getting to an even dollar amount after the pump 'clicks'. And while I generally keep the nozzle, and the gas, in the tank, if a small puppy or an old nun are walking by, sometimes I just can't resist spraying them down just for kicks.

My philosophy is the more polluted the earth is, the longer my carcas will be preserved.

How are you guys measuring your MPGs? Are you using the actually trip display or are you calculating it everytime you fill up? I heard the data thats displayed on the trip meter isn't exactly accurate.

Well, you are "chocking" your car with gasolin.

And it's also preventing you from accurately calculating your MPG. More accurate to measure your miles from click to click, even better if you keep using the same gas station, and the same pump.

My Shell station has a sign on each and every pump, telling drivers not to top off.

But then you can do whatever you feel like doing, of course.

--- Actually, and surprisingly, from what I've read here, the trip meter is VERY accurate. I have not done any testing, but several here did and found it accurate to a TENTH of a mile (per gallon)... Interesting.

...And one more good mark to Hyundai.

I've calculated and used the trip which seems pretty accurate, moreso than the trip on a 00 VW GTI and an 03 325i I had prior.Overall I think the Sonata gets pretty decent mpg's :57: .

BTW,I hate clowns, especially the one on your sig lol...

Hey, I'm totally satisfied with the 26 I'm getting so far. The Sonata is tall, wide, and has a live engine. 30 MPG would be totally excellent.

Heard any rumours that Hyundai is selling engines to Daimler-Chrysler?

My son watched that stupid S. King movie, and now he's still scared of PennyWise. He's 20 years old! :w00t:

I have owned both an 06 2.4GL and an 06 3.3GLS... I put 10k on my 2.4 and got about 28mpg... on my 3.3 I get 24-25.5 mpg in mixed driving... I do about 54 mile seach way for my commute....

as for Hyundai selling engines to DC.... mistubishi, DC and Hyundai all built the 2.4L engine together... they all use it an mildly change it to their needs.... they call 'em "global" engines... DC has a tweaked version of the 2.4 that gets well over 170HP... but Internally its the same as the Hyundais 164HP engine

Scott

P.S. I would LOOOOOOVE to test out crashing in to the 5mph bumpers of his avatar... mayeb at 10mph, for scientific pruposes , of course

Scott,

I would love for my car to have a 5mph bumper! I had a VW Rabbit that got thwacked from behind by a big buick. The Buick lost... the bumper was pushed down, and the grill messed up real good. The shock struts on my bumper bled a little oil, but the bumper had only slight cosmetic damage.

About that other bumper... :whistling:
