I have a 1985 pony 1.4 the car will not charge occasionally. If when you turn the key to run and the batt. light comes on ,then the car will charge. If the light does not come on it doesn't charge.I have replaced the alternator and checked/cleaned all the connections to the batt.and body ,engine grounds etc.It may start and charge fine for a few days and then the next time you start it it wont charge. If when you turn the car off and you notice the batt. light doesnt come on as the car quits you know the car will not charge when you try to start. Is there an ignition relay or something someware or possibly aproblem in the key switch or starter?Any help will be greatly appreciated

from what you describe this sounds like a faulty alternator, even though you have replaced it, get it checked out

Thought so too so I replaced it for a second time and had it bench tested at the shop before I installed it and all was ok.Wondering if its right in the ignition switch?Last night after running for over an hour when I shut it off I noticed that the light did not come on as I shut down so I restarted it again and no charge.I messed with it for almost an hour and could not get it to charge. However when I went to move it this morning the light came on as I turned the key and it started charging.I'm begining to think it doesn't like me!

this is a bit of an odd one, you'd be best off getting a decent auto electrician to have a look over it
