Hi there, wonder if anyone can help. My Hyundai pony is misbehaving slightly. It starts most of the time but on cold mornings like today. I turn the ignition and get rapid clicking sound and nothing else. I then get annoyed and walk to work. 9 times out of 10 I get home and the car starts first time. Any ideas? Is it just the cold? I keep the car garaged..

you've got a problem with either the battery, poor electrical connections to it or a dodgy starter motor, to start with check the battery connections are tight, if so get the car running and ask your local garage to check the battery and charging system, if that checks out o/k it is likely to be the starter motor solonoid sticking

If you suspect a bad body or engine ground, get hold of a set of booster cables and attach one end to the engine the altrrnator bracket works well if you can get at it and attach the other end to the negative terminal of the battery,if the problem goes away you have a bad chassis ground.
Good luck

You didn't say if your garage is heated ,if its not and it gets cold and damp it might be a bad battery or a dead cell .
