Hey, can anyone help?

As I mentioned in my greetings, I'm an owner of a 4 door Technical Gray 1.1 liter hyundai Getz.

Here in the Philippines, one of the trends in modifying the looks of your car is turning it into a different version. Say American, Japanese and even European.

Just you know I really made a research on this car before even buying it. I had to go through tons of review's and consultation's with my friends. At last I bought it and well, it was worth it.

Here in the Philippines, they had to remove just a few features just so they could drop the price to make it more attractive. No power side view mirrors, no central door locking mechanism, no trunk lid cover, no third brake lights, no front and rear fog lamps and last but not the least, no sun roofs. This just sucks.......

I'm planning to turn my unit into a European version since it was mostly sold there. I'm looking for the Rear Fog Lamps including the wiring kit to make it more original. Can anyone help in giving me the part or part numbers? Any suggestions on this issue?

I'll be posting my cars picts probably tom or w/in the week and you'll see how far I've gone to fixing it up. Thanks......

HELLO. I DONT KNOW IF THERE IS A KIT ABOUT REAR FOG LAMP (HERE IN GREECE IT IS STANDARD) BUT IF YOU WANT THE PART NUMBERS SEPERATELY HERE THEY ARE (AT LEAST IN EUROPE):
REAR FOG LAMP : H 92405-1C010 (LHD) / H92406-1C010 (RHD)
REAR FOG LAMP SWITCH : H 93740 - 1C000
ABOUT THE WIRING I DON'T KNOW BUT I BELIEVE IT MUST BE SIMPLE TO INSTALL (IF NOT ALLREADY INSTALLED!!!).
WHY DON'T YOU GO TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER'S SPARE PARTS, AND TELL THEM TO LOOK IT UP TO BE MORE CERTAIN ?MAYBE THERE'LL BE SOME KIND OF KIT WHITCH WILL BE CHEAPER.'
AND WHAT ABOUT THE REAR BUMPER ? WOULD IT NEED REPLACING OR NOT ?
ASK IN YOUR DEALER FIRST TO SEE IF IT IS WORTH IT OR NOT.
I HOPE I HELPED...

Hey Kabayan Zax!

If they put in all that the European Getz 1.1 has, we would be paying what they do and that would be at least Pesos 125,000 more than what we paid for ours (I just bought a 1.1 Getz in silver gray as technical gray was a bit too sad a color..). Paid almost 1.5K for the central locks, 1.8 for the baggage compartment lid, and 1.8K for the complete mud flaps. Wheels and plastic covers really suck but can live with them until tire wear out. This will take some time as my Getz is a spare car.

Sunroof would be nice but in this country? Had a 1967 VW Beetle 1500 with sunroof once that came in all the way from Germany via the U.S. and Bangkok. Air was cleaner 30 years ago when most cars had no AC.

What I really want are the front fog lamps, rear wiper and washer, 60-40 split bench at the back (not just the backrests) and complete airbags. An MP3 capable stereo would also be nice. Maybe then can throw in the higher end sun visors with mirrors, power outside mirrors, and front reading lamps. Are we up to Pesos 600K yet?

We have the same engine as the Picanto which has an automatic trans. Worst car I ever drove was a 1.2 Chevette automatic but that was years ago. I wonder how the new small displacement automatics are.

Sincerely,

Wrong. Jeepneys were not the equivalent of a taxi, more like a mini-bus. Now, if you chop up a Getz - not recommended - and extend the body to seat more in a side bench face to face configuration, maybe you get a "Getzney". The original jeep had a chassis and a tailgate, so it was easily adapted to its new native mode.

All Zax is trying to do is upgrade our available base model to european standard in terms of standard equipment. Of course, the Getz is much more expensive in the EU countries because of the standard equipment included.

I still think that you Guys in the Philippines should get in touch with: www.vtechware.com/link.htm you will get a good deal and a lot cheaper than anything you can get in the Philippines, also I can recommend the guy 110% reliable, I have ordered and received orders from him delivered within a matter of days, all in perfect condition and as ordered, even a rear spoiler, which had to be sprayed in a colour not available in Singapore, I received in a week and I live in the UK!!!

Good thing that you have it as a standard.

I'll go to the dealer and see if they can have it ordered. Common practice here is if its not a standard part, its more likely that they wont offer it.

Anyway, I shall still try.

Thanks......

Kabayan,

Parehas lang pala tayo ng iniisip.

Anyway, dont buy yet from the dealership as I'm outsourcing the parts. I'll update you if i have located a shop to buy the parts.

Metro Manila resident ka din ba?

Yup, Kabayan Zax, Metro Manila resident ako.

I have a 2003 Matrix 1.6 automatic which is just getting to 30,000 kms and still in warranty until May 2006. Wish they would just extend warranty to 5 years like they do in some countries, even if they reduce mileage. No way I will make 100K in 3 years within Metro Manila. Got my Getz October 15, 2005 and still not up to first 1000 kms.!

Surprisingly, I am having fun scooting around in my Getz, even in traffic, but best mileage so far is 8 km/liter. Will find out highway mileage when I go out of town soon. Might try to go ro-ro all the way to Iloilo City come Holy Week but doubt if my wife and daughter will want to come along in a mini-car.

Good to know same wavelength tayo on our cars. That recommended supplier from Singapore has good prices but with the shipping costs, customs duties, and all, I would prefer to source parts from the dealer for now. Please let me know when you find a third-party or outside source in Banawe, Araneta, or wherever. Sana lang man they put in the intermittent wipers and a third-eye brake light. Again, for 429K what did I expect?

To our friend who coined "Getzney": You got the spirit and humour appreciated.! If you live and drive in Manila you would really wish that the jeepney would finally go away. If their drivers were a bit more disciplined, they can still be tolerated but that is wishful thinking. I rode them a lot while a student many years ago but even a good idea has its time and place.

Manila Matrix,

Na try ko na lahat.

Full tank to the rim pa. Last record attempted ko of mixed highway and city driving only got me as far as 475km on 46 liters of gas. Rough estimate on km per liter is at around 10plus lang.

Dont bother bringing your car to the province, the farthest point my Getz has been to is Malvar, Batangas via Star toll. Top speed is at 150km / hr. Sad thing is a little bit of uphill slows down the unit. It cant maintain the speed.

Once I find a good auto accesories shop that can support the Getz, I'll post it here.

Keep in touch kabayan... Mag buo kaya tayo ng Getz Club sa Pinas. hehehe :amen:

Thanks for the info. I wonder how Pocholo Ramirez gets that claimed mileage with a Jazz, but Pocholo Ramirez is Pocholo Ramirez.

As soon as I hit 150 kph I will consider myself as having reached minicar Nirvana and throttle back to 90-100 kph! When gas was much, much, much cheaper, I never had cause to complain with my 1967 VW 1500 Beetle wth a real Empi Supercharger. Even stock, I could hardly get 12 kms/liter, no aircon.

Nice to go on the forum for our cars but there is still nothing uniquely endearing about the Getz to set up a club for it.
