Hi all, this is my first post but I have been a :) happy Tucson Elite V6 owner since April this year. We love our Tucson except for, you guessed it fc. We are averaging 14.5l/100k after doing about 8500km.

Anyway getting to my topic title, I spoke with the Victorian state office for Hyundai today wishing to get some Aussie input regarding Hyundai Aust thinking about fc. The guy I spoke with advised they have received very little comments/complaints etc from Aus drivers, as I explained to him about this forum. However he advised from their actual tests (ie office staff driving a Tucson) they have been averaging 13 - 15l/100 and that you will never get the advertised 11l/100. So I suggest any Aus Tucson owner who is not happy to contact their state and or national Hyundai office and voice your concerns.

I will get back to you guys with the response I get from the Victoria state office.
Cheers

That's good mileage Silverpaul. I seem to get 12.5l/100k both city and country. Due for my 15000k service soon and have been waiting for the improvement in consumption reported by some other Tucson owners around that point (on this and other forums).

Bradandphillip, good on you for trying to get some action on FC in Oz. Be interested to see if you get any useful feedback.

Jim

Hi bradandphillip

I have a V6 Tuscon since beginning of October and I am not impressed with the fuel consumption of 13.5L/100km. I have done 3500km.
I have seen the rates of the other Tuscon owners and they are equally poor.
I will give it a few more km to allow the performance to improve, but I will certainly seek an improved fuel performance of the car from the dealer.

Hi everyone... I purchased my 2005 2.7 AWD Tucson last November and currently have 38,000 kms on the odometer.
I didn't notice a real improvement in my fuel consumption until I hit the 15,000 to 18,000 km mark, took a long time to break in. I've been running on full synthetic 5w-30 and at 110 to 115 kph average on the highway I am now getting 9 to 9.3 L / 100 kms on a regular basis.
You guys with under 15,000 kms, hang in there for a while, things should definately improve.
Rod. :)

Hi, Have some good news regarding my orginal post, however the proof will be in the pudding so to speak. After 3 telephone conversations with a guy from Hyundai state office (he phoned my 2 times in reply to my orginal conversation to keep my informed and up to date) he arranged for a program update to be sent to my local service manager.

The program update was what he was able to dig up and is to reprogram the auto and is ment to deliver improvements in FC.

Reprogram was done yesterday 05/12/05, FC trip computer was reset so we will wait and see in a week or so if there has been any improvement.

All in all so far I am happy with the help I have received from both local service manager and state office. I will be reporting back to both with out come either good or bad.

So other Asutralian Tucson drivers, contact you state office if interested.

PS Reprogram was free, well so it should have been :)

I bought my Tucson in October and have just under 5000K's on it so far.
I have yet to get any more that 430 km's from a tank and that was on the open road. My current tank looks like it will only yield about 320Km's. So I am well over the quoted figure of 11.0L/100K. - more like 15-16L/100K I doesnt seem to make much difference whether I drive it hard or take it easy, I have also tried 91/95/98 octane fuel and have only had a slight inprovment on the 98 unleaded.

I have already been to see the local hyundai dealer and they didnt seem to believe that the fuel consumption was so bad, but I left it with them for a few hours and they said they reset some chip and that it may help. So far after 1000K's there has been little or no improvement.

I will be going to see my local dealer next week to chase up the new program.

I will keep you posted.

Hey Guys,

I purchased my 2.7l V6 Hyundai Elite S in February 2005, and have around 10.400kms on the clock.

My fuel economy is 13.8l/100kms around town and 13.2l/100kms on the highway.

This is very disappointing as apart from the F/C the Tuscon is an awesome car.

I too have tried 91/95/98 fuel with little discernable difference.

I am unsure whether to wait till I have over 15,000kms to see if things change or whether to get onto my State office.

Cheers
