Need help with my motor, initial problem produced excessive exhaust manifold temp, and heavy fuel consumption, following advise from my local garage, I had the fuel injection pump and injectors overhauled, and although it no longer seems to be trashing the manifold gaskets now, it still uses to much fuel, any ideas from anyone would be appreciated.

About 130k, performance is spot on. Is there a seperate timing for the pump as apposed to the engine?? do the 2.5 diesel engine have an ecu, and if so what tells it how much fuel to send? Is it the same as a petrol motor, does it have a lambda sensor?

what I've heard no it doesn't have ECU... the fuel pump do it all... it isn't electronic the pump its connected to the engine with the same belt it moves the cams but t have to be sync in the belt to send fuel properly... my galloper its a 2001 SWB and it use to has a great consumption and i send the fuel pump to a lab to be examined and it came to me clean as **** and a carry it to a workshop and they instal it an **** the engine sounds better, it consume less and have more input power.
