Ok I wait until the low fuel light comes on for the first time and then go fill up. Each time I have filled up it was with either 16 or 16.5 gallons. I have read that the santa fe doesnt always fill up completly when the pump shuts off. Does it sound correct that I would have 2.5 gallons left in the tank when the fuel light comes on? Thanks

When i fill up, after the punp shuts off with ~16 gals, I can VERY slowly pump in another 2 gal. i do not know whats up with this. it takes a long time at the pumps if you want a full tank.

The Santa Fe in common with my Tucson has a long neck filler and its kinda flat so that when filling it swirls and in my case as I have a diesel that bubbles and comes back along the neck to switch off the petrol pump to save an accident. BUT if when you get near the top you slow the fill down you can fill it right up.
Ref your light on to empty in my case they say 9 litres and I haven't got down that low to try it out but its probably ok.
I would say to you that when the light comes on thats the right time for a refill.
Have fun with your Santa fe

Regards
