I have never bothered to check the fuel economy of the Tibs i've owned before because i knew they were 'pretty good' . However on a recent trip i decided to find out exactly how good/bad the little v6 is in a Tiburon . I drove from Sudbury , Ont. to Ajax , Ont. at speeds ranging from 90-120 kph , averaging around 100 kph/60 mph . At fillup with the fuel guage showing just below 1/2 full after travelling 401 kilometers the tank took 29 litres .

29 litres = 6.37 imp gal. = 7.63 us gal.

401 km = 250 miles

7.25 l/100 km = 39.3 mpg/imp = 32.3 mpg/us

At 2500 rpm/60 mph/100 kph my dash multi-guage was showing around 7 l/ 100 k , pretty accurate .

I have a 2003 GT V6 with the 6 speed and usually get around 26-28 mpg in commute miles and 29-31 mpg on long trips. If you use cruise and stay steady, you can get pretty good mpg on the Tiburon. I sure like mine now that our gas is $2.35 a gallon..

Thanks,
Ray
