I have a brand new Hyandai Terracan CRDI , have had it 3 1/2 months, took it into dealership today complaining of a broken hose in the engine, They told me I have a mice problem , and there are several hoses that have been chewed by mice ??
Between us we have had 7 cars live in the same spot I park this car and not once have heard about such problems as mice getting in engines and chewing hoses etc,, I am heart broken - Am getting the hoses replaced (car is off the road as parts will take 2 wks to get in to Aust from Korea) Cant keep driving it as a more sinister problem may arise.Has anyone ever had such a problem, we did suggest to dealer that perhaps it happened coming over in shipping container ?

have heard of problems with critters before but mainly in the u.s. it is strange that you have not had any problems with your previous vehicles, maybe the mice just love hyundai's (only joking) it's equally strange that they could have 'attacked' the car during shipping, all you can do when you get your car back is to leave some traps around the car when it is left overnight and see what happens

Where are you in Oz?
We've had issues with Rats under the bonnet of the cars, they don't mix well with the fan blades. There are a few mice around at the moment here on the Sunshine coast. I've luckily not had them in the car. I'd suggest bait if you don't have kids or pets around, otherwise traps. peanut paste is much better than cheese as an attractant. BTW don't forget where you set your traps. :460:
cheers
Andrew

Dianne

I had a mouse living in my body work! I don't believe someone else had that aswell. I saw it poke its head up a couple of times. Right at the point where the windscreen meets the bonnet/hood at the bottom corner infront of the driver(RHD).

I haven't seen it for about a year and a half now. I was also worried it would eat the electrics.

There you go!

Hi everyone.
I decided to buy my first ever brand new car so bought a Hyundai Santa Fe which i have now had for 6 to 7 weeks. Went out this morning to top up the screen wash and have discovered lots of the foam lagging on the pipes have been chewed and part of the floor also under the engine......
never had this happen before so i guess i better get out the mouse poison.
What a sickener.
Apart from that and still waiting for the manuals for the car i am ver happy with it, a real treat to drive.

Having been in the retail business for over 30 years I've seen this "spotty" rodent problem many times.

For some reason rodents will go after one vehicle/boat/snowmobile or whatever within a cluster of others but only the one or others that are the same.

I've never found the exact reason why but in some cases I've been able to track it to certain types/smells of materials.

In your case I'd have no clue.
