I'm new to HID/Xenon light bulbs and am interested in upgrading the bulbs on my car as well. As far as a can tell H1 and H7 are for Halogen type bulbs. For HID, I can only find D2S and D2R. Can someone fill me in or point me in the right direction to some good info explaining the difference between current bulbs and HID bulbs?

halogen bulbs are like your everyday bulbs with a think filament that heats up HID's or "xenons" are completely different they are essentially a casing containing little particles and gases including xenon they use a completely different system involving random stuff i dont even know about you cant just screw one in dont go for those cheap gimmick "blue" headlights they just arent the same even if they have "xenon gas inside!" if iwere you id save a hella lot of money few hundred at least and get a set of sylvania silverstars they have a nice white light a little bluish tinge on the outside of the beam thats kinda annoying but theyre bright enough for me but i have to say the bluish twinkle from HID's are bitchin

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must say I agree. Although my wallet tells me otherwise, I think I will p/u the shark upgrade kit for $400 to get true xeon lights. I think they would be pretty sweet with the Sonata's headlamps.

Can someone tell me what is the highlighted circle on the pic below, and what is the function? A Sonataspeed member thinks it is a possible provision for City Light. In that case..........what purpose do "City Lights" serve? (IMG: http://www.claffie.com/photos/060307-01.jpg)

In several countries (Europe) it's mandatory to have the lights always on.

QUOTE(FreshZ @ Mar 13 2006, 12:31 AM) I want to change my high beams, but I am running into some weird things. First off, what is the wattage of our high beams? 55 or 65? Is it OK to put in a 85 or 100w bulb?
The OEM bulbs are 55W. You can go up to 100W. QUOTE Lastly, has anyone changed the worthless fog light bulbs? Anyone???
Fog light bulbs are 9006 type. Replacing fog lights it's not a DIY procedure because the front bumper must be taken down. Ask the dealer to do it. I replaced all my light bulbs (H1, H7, 9006) with the Superwhite ones from sharkracing.com.

Hey all, been following this thread for a bit. Sorry for the lateness of this post, would've been more applicable a few days ago. Anyhow....
I asked the local dealership service manager about upgrading to the HIDs from Shark Racing, and he advised against it. He said he's seen people who've done it before (although not to 2006 Sonatas, yet) and they messed up their light harnesses because the HIDs put off more heat and essentially melt/burn up the harness and headlight assembly in general.
Anyone hear of this before? I don't get the feeling that he would be feeding me a load of crap, since he's pretty trustworthy. But, I don't have any experience with HID headlamps, so I dunno. Any opinions or past experiences would be helpful.
Thanks!
