First off I would just like to say Hi to all on this forum.
I also would like anyones input on how I can remove the Lower Timingbelt Cover?
I am Installing a new waterpump and 2 bolts are located behind this cover which seems almost impossible to reach without taking off this cover.
I have a "Haynes Auto Manual" which does not show removal instructions which makes me think I wasted my Money!Regardless I would certainly appreciate someone's input.Thank you,Keith

Register at hmaservice.com. They will issue you a permanent password. Log on to hmaservice. Click on Service Information. Find your vehicle model, and year of vehicle. Go to Shop (shop manual) If for some reason they do not send you a password after a day or so, click on "forgot my password" and it will be sent.
These are actual Hyundai service manuals with all pics etc.

Hi,

I feel your pain!

I once attempted to replace my water pump by myself and eventually had to call in the mobile mechanic. Turns out that the engine mount had to be removed, amongst other things. For the money it will cost you versus the time you will save, it's worth getting the pros in in this one.

Hoping this helps.

Cheers,

Andrew

Do you have the Haynes manual that covers 1996-2001 Elantras? I have the same one and it shows how to remove both upper and lower timing belt covers. Look under timing belt replacement/check. I know that it says that replacing the timing belt can be done without removing the enging mounts, so you should be able to do the water pump as well (if you're set on doing it yourself).
